Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is the name of the Council that came into power on 1st April 2015. It covers the following areas:

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has retained the services of the former two councils, which includes bin collection, leisure facilities, parks and open spaces, business support, regeneration, rural development, tourism, building control, community support, arts and culture services, sports development and environmental health in addition to marketing and communications.
Through Local Government Reform, the Council has also taken on new powers from central government – planning, community planning, community development, housing responsibilities and off-street car parking. In terms of planning Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is now responsible for the majority of planning decisions taken within the new council area following the transfer of the majority of planning powers from the DOE to the new council.
The new council website www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk contains all the key information for its ratepayers. There is also the ability to complete a range of online forms to apply for a range of services including building control applications, dog licences, certain business applications and marriage/partnership registration forms.

CRITICAL CARE REGISTERS
If you or someone in your family relies on electricity or water due to a medical condition you should sign up to the NI Electricity or NI Water critical care registers. Examples include people on a ventilator or with a stair lift or electric hoist in their home.
