Lions Citizen of the Year
Congratulations to Lorraine Dingwall
Lorraine stands out as a person who has contributed to the community of
Pyramid Hill and particularly the Football Club, over many years.
Lorraine has been the person behind the feeding of the footy and netball players
and their supporters for 15+ years - rain, hail or shine, she is ordering food and
working in the shed to ensure everyone has plenty to eat at each home game as
well as Thursday nights and other special events. Lorraine also washes the
footy jumpers each week - a job she inherited from her mother, Gwen.
Through Lorraine’s work with the Footy Ladies’ Committee, as it was called, a
great deal of money has been raised to support the Football Club. Lorraine has
been the stalwart of the Ladies’ Committee - many others have contributed for
a few years or so, but Lorraine has been the constant member of the committee
for a very long time.
Another group Lorraine is involved with is the East Loddon Senior Citizens
Club, where she is Secretary - a job she fell into when taking her mother to play
cards there. Lorraine is very good at
sewing and makes school dresses, as
well as supporting the Lions Markets
with a stall, laden with many hand-
made items.
Lorraine enjoys lawn bowls and is a
member of the Pyramid Hill Bowling
Club, as well as the Yarrawalla Tennis
Club and began playing tennis at ten
years of age. For the Tennis Club
Centenary, Lorraine researched and
produced a book on the history of the
Club.
Lorraine runs a farm, when she is not
involved in her many community
activities! She is mother of two
children, and step-mother of two
children and grandmother of seven.
Well done Lorraine, thank you for all
the volunteer work you have done to
support others in our community.

Bali Masters 2016
The Pyramid Bulldogs team competing in the Bali Nines have returned from Indonesia. The carnival got off to a shaky start when gun recruit and dual QAFL medallist David Round pulled out with Bali belly then the Bruise Brothers Bruce McCahon and Bruce Moon lined up with the Castlemaine Magpies after signing a lucrative contract. The first game on Friday morning was against Western Australian team Warnbro Swans and with Tony Pearson controlling the backline the team won by four goals. The next game was against the premiers from a couple of years ago, the Singapore Wombats but a good team effort saw a three goal victory The third game for the day was against Perth's Northern Warriors and Jayson Carroll's run out of the backline saw a four goal win. The next morning’s opponents were the Noonamah Croco-diles who boasted a few ex AFL players but Stuie Cooper had a day out kicking ten goals which is a goal every two minutes and was the best haul for the weekend resulting in an eight goal win. The winner of the next game went straight into the grand final and was
against probably the best of the Asian teams - the Singapore Sharks. The two sides went goal for goal until Brad Madden calmly kicked the winning goal in extra time to win the game. The grand final was against the Darwin Dugongs who were made up mainly of Darwin firefighters and a couple of ex-WAFL players. The Dugongs got off to a flying start and just when it looked like the Bulldogs were making a come-back, an unseasonal tropical downpour slowed them down resulting in a three goal win to the Dugongs, which the brave Bulldog boys made them earn. The Trout Harrison mug award to the best player went to Stu Cooper while the Trout Harrison mugged award went to Brad Driscoll who ironically was mugged twice - once by the locals and once by the local police. The team would like to thank all the helpers and supporters and hope to see them again next year where the Bulldogs will enter two teams an over 35's and for the first time, an over 47's. Inaugural coach/selector and major sponsor, Bruce McCahon is the person to see if you are keen to be involved

Seniors News On Monday, 15 of us headed off on an overcast day to the Catalina Museum at Lake Boga - what can I say? 100% + credit to the volunteers and organisers for the wonderful display of the Catalina flying boat and array of memorabilia. The original underground bunker with its telephone exchange terminals and Morse code equipment, all in working order. The very uncomfortable sleeping quarters made you appreciate the modern conveniences we have today. I could go on and on, (but I won’t). With the $10 entrance fee, all going to restorations, it was well worth it. Then on to Swan Hill for yummy lunch and stroll around shops finished our day Margaret Williamson made a delicious carrot cake for June Ballis’ birthday, so we sang Happy Birthday with our morning tea.
Movie Day - 4th July - “Poor Man’s Orange” $2 entry, afternoon tea, all
welcome. Cards - 500 - one still away, was fairly
evenly shared. Two more going away, so no cards for a few weeks.
Happy birthday to Rob Stone on 2nd July and Mabel Leed on 8th July.
Next Luncheon is 12th July - all welcome. AGM to follow.
More trips are planned so stay tuned.

Pyramid Hill Night Netball
The first game saw the undefeated Purple team take on the Red team. The Red team where missing a few players but decided to unleash their secret weapon in WD. She carved up the court like a veteran and played well beyond her age. She made the Purple C look silly at times. Purple showed over confidence in the first quarter and trailed at quarter time. After a pep talk from Marie they hit their straps and ended up with a comfortable win. In the late game Pink and Blue took to the court. Blue put up a good fight and where competitive at time but didn't have the fire power to compete with the Pink team and Pink came away with the win to cement 2nd spot on the ladder and get a double chance in the finals. Finals kick off next week and in the first game at 7pm Purple take on Pink with the winner going straight through to the Grand final. In the late game Red take on Blue with the loser eliminated. The next season of Monday night netball will be played on Tuesday night and anyone who is interested can put their names on the list ASAP with Katrina van Eyk - 043 889 4437 or Colleen Hampson - 0427 506 375 or via Facebook so we can get the next season up and running as soon as we can.

The time has come for our Neighbourhood House to move!!
We would very much appreciate anyone who is willing and able with a couple of

Bowling Club Annual Meeting Report
The Annual Meeting of the Pyramid Hill Bowling Club was held last Wednesday night when a good contingent of brave souls ignored the cold to attend. The evening began with the President, Marie N., delivering the Annual report which focussed on the achievements of the Club as well as individuals and small teams over the 2015-16 season. Particular congratulations was afforded to those who competed at Regional and State levels. Social highlights and the significant number of general improve-ments made to the grounds and buildings were featured in the report. The successful year was accredited to the cooperation and extensive contribu-tions by Club members who all played their parts in various manner and degrees to benefit this sporting body and to ensure that we offer a safe, welcom-ing and healthy environment for our players and visitors. Special thanks was attributed to the Board Members who so expertly managed small working groups in specific areas. The tireless work of the Catering Committee and the Greens Management was recognized. The financial report indicated that the Club is in a healthy position even though many funds had been poured back into the projects undertaken and the finances were impacted by the need to cancel three tournaments due to the extreme heat. Much of the financial success is a result of the generous sponsorships received. Reports were also received from the various Sub-committees before all positions were declared vacant and elections were held for roles of responsibility for the coming twelve
months.

Pyramid Hill Netball &
Football Club Round 10
Bridgewater v Pyramid
A GRADE
In crisp conditions Pyramid started strong with a 3 goal difference at the first break. We had accurate shooting and strong teamwork and the girls worked hard for the remainder of game. However Bridgewater was just too consistent. Well done girls. Bridgewater 60 d. Pyramid Hill 41 Best – Zoe Kennedy
B GRADE
Late on a Friday night we took on Bridgewater in Bendigo. First quarter saw Bridgewater come out strong and take a big lead. Great defence by Emily, but extremely accurate shooting by Bridgewater helped them further extend their lead. When the ball made it down to the Pyramid Hill attacking end, our goalers were able to convert, but Bridgewater were just too strong all over the court. Bridgewater 71 d. Pyramid Hill 35

Netball Scoring Roster
C GRADE
C Grade this week put up a really strong fight particularly during the first quarter. Strong defence were able to get a few turnovers and the attackers worked really well in and around the goal ring. This was one of our better games, although the score didn’t reflect how well we played as a team. Bridgewater was just too good. Bridgewater 72 d. Pyramid Hill 23
Best – Lauren Fawcett
C RESERVE
Throughout the first quarter the girls came out all guns blazing, our retirees in Kim, Deb and Karlee made a killer come back playing like they had never stopped. Although sadly the score board didn’t reflect the amazing on court action. The girls never gave up and though we didn’t win, we should be very proud of how we played. Bridgewater 51 d. Pyramid Hill 26 Best – Liz Fox
17 & UNDER
After losing to Bridgewater by around 50 in Round 1, we weren’t too optimistic going into the game. We lost out reliable shooter early on as Teagan suffered a minor injury. But Emma stepped in to goals proving to be a star shooter. It was a very even game for the first half until Bridgewater made a few changes which helped them get the edge. A great game, and to only lose by 9 goals was a brilliant improvement for the girls. Bridgewater 32 d. Pyramid Hill 23 Best – Summer Douglas

The girls took to the court with a strong first and second quarter. With the Bridgewater girls only up by 2 at half time, Pyramid were feeling confident. However, some sloppy passes and too many turnovers in the third quarter led to a devastating loss, however much improved on the 40 goal difference from Round 1. Bridgewater 51 d. Pyramid Hill 31 Best – Jordann Broad & Amy Murfitt
MINIS
Such a chilly morning, the Pyramid girls travelled steady throughout the game. The girls showed strength and determination for the whole match. Go Hill!

Pyramid Hill Footy Results Pyramid Hill v Bridgewater
Our Under 18’s were our shining light on what was literally a dismal day for football. Our Reserves and Senior teams were heavily depleted due to injury before and during the game. Thanks to the seven Under 18 boys who played 2 games for the day. The day did not end well with the Seniors having only one on the bench at half time and none for the final quarter. To their credit the boys never gave up and need to hold their heads up high as they limped in battle scarred from an extremely
physical match.
UNDER 18’s
Looking back to Round 1, the boys wanted to ensure they made up for the last time we played Bridgewater which resulted in a 3 goal loss. The first quarter was a tight tussle and against the breeze the boys held up well, some inaccurate kicking kept us in the game but our defenders contested well and we went into the first break just 4 points down. It was a scrappy affair with the ground still quite muddy from the midweek rain and at half time it was 3 goals a piece with the Mean Machine still holding the advantage. Needing to lift their defence the boys knuckled down in the third term and a couple of magnificent goals and great possession football allowed us to gain the momentum and take a 1 point advantage into the final change. The intensity and will to win the football was superb in the last quarter and with a 2 goal lead with 10 minutes to play we played some smart, controlled football and
held on for a fantastic victory.

RESERVES
We had the Goliath job of trying to tame the Bridgewater boys today. It was a really scrappy game and all our boys stood up to the challenge, all playing their part and playing really well together. In the end we didn’t get the bickies but fought hard to the end and put in a good effort against a quality outfit. Good to see Pickles out of retirement Looking forward to taking it up to Newbridge next week. Go Doggies! Final Score: Bridgewater 16.13 d Pyramid Hill 2.1 Goal Kickers: L. Chapman 1, R. SENIORS
In what was always going to be a challenging and physical match against the reigning premiers the boys were pumped and ready for a fierce contest. After we kicked the first goal, Bridge-water hit back and held control of their first quarter. A significant amount of play was in our defensive 50 as we couldn’t win the contested ball count.
Bridgey took a 28 point buffer into the first change and from here, they stamped their authority. The boys were gallant in their effort but our execution from half back to midfield was what let us down. With just one goal to half time and trailing by 72 points much more gallant effort was required and the third term produced this. Our tackle intensity lifted and we placed greater emphasis on our defensive efforts to break even for the quarter. In the final term however, with the game shot and no interchange due to injuries, it was a battle and the boys were out on their feet as the Mean Machine piled on 13 goals to blow the margin right out of proportion. Final Score: Bridgewater 29.15 d Pyramid Hill 4.2 Goal Kickers: B. Micevski 2, P. Monaghan 1, J. Wishart 1 Victoria Hotel Award: B. Micevski National Hotel Award: J. Wishart Others: M. Bateman, A.
