LCI collects personal information about Lions Club members to facilitate communications with and between our members. Lions International Purposes

To Organize, charter and supervise service clubs to be known as Lions clubs.

To Coordinate the activities and standardize the administration of Lions clubs.

To Create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.

To Promote the principles of good government and good citizenship.

To Take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of the community

To Unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship, and mutual understanding.

To Provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics

and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members.

To Encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage

efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.

Lions Code of Ethics

To Show my faith in my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of

service.

To Seek success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the

price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.

To Remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another’s; to be loyal to my clients or

customers and true to myself.

Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt

against myself.

To Hold friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service

performed by one another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.

Always to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state, and my community, as to give them my

unswerving loyalty in word, act, and deed. To give then freely of my time, labor, and means.

To Aid others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy.

To be Careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise; to build up and not destroy.

Elevation of Lions of District 2-A2 into the Hall of Fame is bestowed upon one who has been outstanding in using their time, talents and resources to further the cause of humanitarian service. Selection is made by the Hall of Fame Committee. Minimum standards to qualify are: • Be an active member with at least 15 years of service. • Having provided outstanding and dedicated service to Lionism. • Having provided other than Lionistic service to the community, state, and nation. • Having accomplished special achievements in, or contributed to, humanitarian service for those less fortunate, and • Not having solicited in any manner for this recognition, which automatically eliminates the soliciting candidate for that year.

Dues per Member

A resolution to increase International Dues to be phased in over two years was voted and approved by the membership at the International Convention. The Dues increase will be effective July 1, 2012. Dues will be billed as follows: MEMBERSHIP DUES (a) Semi-annual membership dues of twenty dollars and fifty cents (US$20.50) denominated in U.S. dollars shall be levied on each club member during the 2012-13 term, beginning July 1, 2012. (b) Semi-annual membership dues of twenty-one dollars and fifty cents (US$21.50) denominated in U.S. dollars shall be levied on each member during the 2013-14 term, beginning July 1, 2013. (c) For family membership programs as adopted by the International Board of Directors, the following dues shall apply: (1) The first family member, Head of Household, shall pay semi-annual membership dues as provided in sub-section (a) or (b) above, depending on the term. (2) Subsequent qualifying family members, not to exceed four additional qualifying members per household, shall pay semi-annual membership dues equal to one-half (1/2) of the total amount paid by the first family member as described in subsection (c)(1). (d) For student membership programs as adopted by the International Board of Directors, eligible student members shall pay semi-annual membership dues equal to one-half (1/2) of the total amount of dues as provided in sub-section (a) or (b) above, depending on the term.

Total Per Club Member Semi-Annual Dues $19.25 ( $38.50 ANNUALLY)

The *District 2-A2 Administrative and *State Convention Fund Dues must come from the Club’s ADMINISTRATIVE ACCOUNT. The remaining checks may come from either the Administrative Account or your Activity Account. Please have your Club Secretary/Treasurer write SIX (6) SEPARATE CHECKS and mail them to the District Cabinet Treasurer.

Governor’s 100% Voluntary Contributions

Each District Governor establishes a list of Lion’s charities deemed to be worthy of club consideration for contributions. A club should consider any and or all of the recommendations after all local needs have been met.

At year’s end all 100% clubs will be awarded a banner patch in recognition of contributions over and above individual club services.

LIONS EMBLEM

Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nation’s Safety

Throughout the World, Lions are recognized by the emblem they wear on their lapels. It consists of a gold letter “L” on a circular purple field. Bordering this a circular gold area with two lion profiles at either side facing away from the center. The word “LIONS” appears at the top, and “International” at the bottom. Symbolically the lions face both the past and the future-proud of the past and confident of the future.

Lions Prayer

Lord help me build a Lions Club that will be strong enough to know when it is weak. Men and Women brave enough to face themselves when they are afraid. A Lions Club that will be proud and unbending in honest defeats, and humble in its victories. Help me build a Club whose wishbone will not be where its backbone should be. A Club whose heart will be clear and whose goal will be high Lions who will master themselves before they seek to master others. Lions who will learn to laugh, yet never forget to weep. Lions who will reach into the future, yet never forget the past. They may ask that I be granted enough of a sense of humor so that I may always be serious but never take myself seriously. Give me the humility, so that I may always remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength, so that I have not serve thee and this Lions Club in vain.

MAJOR DISTRICT 2-A2 GOALS FOR 2012 - 2013

Lions International has stated that there are five essential elements that go into keeping a club healthy and fully functioning. They are Community Service, Membership Growth, Leadership Development, Communication and Organizational Management. As your Governor, I hope to focus on each and every one of these elements in some capacity, whether it is through recruitment and retention, or through training programs that provide the leadership and expertise to better meet the individual needs of the clubs and the District as a whole. Remember that our Motto is, “WE SERVE” and in order to continue to serve our communities as LIONS we need to be committed, have fun and stay focused.

We Serve because We Care

As Governor of District 2-A2 I plan to work with each Club and

Challenge each club to have a positive membership by year’s end by bringing in new members that can help increase service and better meet the identified needs of their communities.

Promote the Youth Opportunities Programs. By doing so we have a direct influence on our youth, with the opportunity of promoting service.

Encourage and provide training programs to Lions Clubs in the areas of orientation for new members, Club Excellence and other training programs that will build leadership, set realistic goals and help to better meet the needs of our communities.

Form new Lions Clubs in areas that will best meet the identified needs of their community through service projects.

Challenge each club to be in good standing with District 2-A2, MD-2 Texas and Lions Clubs International.

These goals cannot be accomplished alone, but together, with your support and commitment, we can accomplish these goals and help make District 2-A2 grow healthy, build future leaders and continue to provide needed service to our communities.
