Linkedin Analytics

• In 2011, LinkedIn was one of the least effective methods to use conducting a job search. In 2015, it is the most effective!

• Smaller employers, those who employ 500 or fewer, focus more on recruiting passive candidates and those from internet job boards. (72% of employers actively recruit passive candidates.)

• Larger employers focus on internal hires and diversity hires than smaller employers.

Advice for Young Professionals From Hank Boyer, author of Using New LinkedIn Analytics to Drive a

More Effective Job Search

Be prepared to distinguish yourself from other young professionals with the same skills. How is that done?

• Research the employer’s website, i.e., management structure, products and services, mission and vision, press releases.

• Research the employers market, how they promote their brand and perhaps complete an informational interview with someone who has worked for the company.

• Identify the value you bring based upon this research and articulate that value in ways that meets the employer’s needs.
