linked to some other subjects.
I have included some ideas in this PowerPoint which I will also upload to
the Class 4 Page on the school website as smaller documents in case that
is easier to navigate! But feel free to come up with your ideas as well!
I hope you enjoy having a go at some of these activities!

RE
Is a church a building, its people or both? What do you think?
This church was built by the Syrian and Libyan refugees at a camp in Calais, France. Muslim refugees built a mosque there too.
How many reasons can you think of for people adapting places or making temporary places to congregate?
A church is a building where people congregate and worship, but it is also a
community of people who share the same beliefs.
We’re going to look at some different churches from around the world thinking about both the buildings and the people.
This pictures show an open-air service during the Timkat festival (epiphany),
Axum, Ethiopia.
What makes these churches different to the churches you have seen?
As well as being a place for Christians to meet, churches are designed to help them
worship and focus on their thoughts.
How are they designed to do this?
The global Christian church is split into branches. Some of the main branches have many smaller denominations within them.
Anglicans are the largest denomination of Christians in the United Kingdom. There are
lots of Anglican denominations too.
Which is the most important part of the a church: the building or its people?
Write a response thinking about the prompt points below to help you:Church buildings are designed to inspire worshippers and to help them focus.
The layout of church buildings helps worshippers and leaders communicate, sing, pray, speak, listen etc.
Church buildings are a focal point for Christian events and activities in communities. Many Christians choose to meet and worship in places other than church buildings. Many Christians in other parts of the world live far from churches or in poor areas
with no purpose built church buildings.Non-religious people may find places where they can reflect, remember, give thanks
or discuss beliefs.
Which global communities do I belong to?
Everyone is part of a community. As well as belonging to our school community you have links to your
local community and maybe to other communities in the world.
Consider ways in which you are part of a global community. Write a statement explaining how you are part of a global community.

Dream Summer
What would your ideal summer be? Trips to the beach? A day at a theme park? A picnic with friends in a peaceful field? Swimming in an outdoor pool? Mirrored
sunglasses show a reflection of what the wearer is looking at.
1. On a piece of paper draw the outline of a pair of sunglasses. 2. In the lenses of the sunglasses draw the outline of our perfect summer scene.
Do this lightly in pencil so you can rub out any mistakes. 3. Add colour to your scene using either watercolour paints or coloured pencils.
4. Fill in the outline of the sunglasses using a black felt tip or marker pen.
