• Continue to check AAH Intranet for up-to-date COVID information – Caregiver Connect, quick

links – “Infection Prevention – Aurora System,” Covid-19 Information Center. PPE resources,

patient care process/workflows, etc. PPE resource guide last updated *7/26/2021

• Continue to use the Safe Check App every day you have clinical.

• No longer have Covid Unit but continue to admit Covid patients throughout the hospital.

• Enter through hospital main entrance – glass revolving door.

• AAH will provide PPE – masks (upon entry) and eye protection (on the unit).

COVID-19 INFORMATION

• See the home page on Julius for the most update to date information/policies

related to COVID-19.

• COVID patients located on 4 medical (rooms 408-413) and in the ICU.


COVID UPDATES – STUDENTS/FACULTY

• All students/faculty must continue to self-monitor before every clinical experience for

COVID symptoms. If you have a positive COVID symptom, DO NOT come to clinical.

• Students/faculty should be screened upon entry to hospital/clinics just as patients/visitors

would be.

• Incident command at Bellin will continue to provide guidance as co-exist with COVID-19

to keep students, staff and patients safe.



• All staff/students/faculty are required to wear a mask to get to their work site; this includes while on the

shuttle.

• Patient-facing individuals in all departments and clinics will continue to receive a surgical facemask once

they arrive to their department.

• Patient-facing individuals in all departments and clinics must wear Bellin approved eye protection when in

contact with patients, regardless of the patient’s infection status.

• Masking in Healthcare Settings (Healthcare settings refers to places where healthcare is delivered and

includes, but is not limited to, acute care facilities, long term acute care facilities, inpatient rehabilitation

facilities, nursing homes and assisted living facilities, home healthcare, vehicles where healthcare is

delivered (e.g., mobile clinics), and outpatient facilities, such as dialysis centers, physician offices, and

others.)



• Given the CDC’s updated masking guidance and the increasing COVID-19 transmission

in and around our service area, Bellin Health will return to universal masking in all

workplaces as of Monday, Aug. 2. This policy will apply across the board in all our

facilities, with employees and students required to mask at all times except when

they are alone in a private office or space.

• Masking is required for fully vaccinated Bellin Health workers, and this includes students

and faculty when together in private offices and conference rooms.

• Continue to focus on improving safety and Injury Reduction - Respiratory protection,

needle safety to reduce needle sticks and musculoskeletal injuries (slips/trips/falls-walking

to and from clinical site).

• With needles, be sure to properly engage the needle safety features.


POLICY UPDATES / CHANGES / REMINDERS

• Visitor Policy - Patients can now have two visitors and visitors must remain masked at all

times unless eating or drinking.

• Additional Policies specific to COVID-19 are located on the home page of Julius-

• COVID-19 Staff Exposure, Return to Work & Vaccination Procedure

• Acute Medication Safety Team reviews compliance with medication barcode scanning,

specifically the scanning of insulin pens - if a medication does not scan with the bedside

scanners, please contact the primary nurse to scan with their Rover device.

• COVID vaccines are offered upon discharge from the acute care setting.

HOSPITAL UPDATE

Master Facility Upgrade

• The new cafeteria is now complete and offers made to order food.

• Maternity expansion and Nursery Development that will include a NICU continues and

is expected to be complete by February 2022.

• Bellin will be offering routine inpatient Dialysis. A Davita Nurse will travel to the patient’s

beside for this service with a start date of August 2.


AMBULATORY UPDATES

• Covid vaccines are being administered at all Bellin Primary Care Clinics and all Fastcare

locations. The Lambeau Field vaccine site is now closed.

• The Mobile Vaccination unit continues to provide vaccines across Brown County.

• Pre-surgical Covid testing for non-symptomatic patients is being done at some Bellin

Clinics.

• ROVER - handheld device

• Bard Indwelling Sure Step Tray - 2 layer tray (product is the same and steps for insertion are

the same).

• Sara Steady-safe patient handling devices being purchased

• Staxi Transport Chairs

• Double Alarm Chair sensors are being used in IRD - provides early indication of possible

unassisted patient to prevent falls.

• Student Locker Room/Conference Room located on the ground floor - this space can also be

booked in Outlook.

• Transition to Masimo for oximetry

• Glytec-Insulin management software

• Students should continue to enter using visitor entrances and follow screening

procedures (PM and night shifts may need to use ED entrance.)

• Due to increasing Covid case numbers, universal masking is now required regardless of

vaccination status.

• Covid patients may be placed throughout the hospital. Currently there is no dedicated

unit or hospital.

COVID UPDATES -VACCINE

All students rotating at Prevea are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by

Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021.

We will offer an exemption process for individuals with medical or religious reasons that prevent them from

receiving the vaccine.

• An individual who declines COVID-19 vaccination is required to complete a Prevea Request for Exemption

from Vaccination Requirements Form.

• Although universal masking is currently in effect, those who follow the exemption process and have an

approved exemption in place are required to wear a mask at work in accordance with CDC guidelines,

which could extend beyond our required universal masking.

• In addition, those who follow the exemption process and have an approved exemption in place may need

to participate in COVID-19 testing starting Oct. 5, 2021; and/or participate in other infection control

protocols as determined by Prevea.

Individuals are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the second dose is administered for Pfizer

and Moderna; and 14 days after the single dose of Johnson and Johnson. Below is a timeline to help you

plan your vaccine doses accordingly in order to be fully vaccinated by Oct. 5, 2021, depending on the

vaccine manufacturer.

BELLIN COLLEGE NURSING PROGRAMS

• NA: The NA Program continues to grow and expand.

• BSN

• Plans are in place to implement a revised curriculum in the fall of 2022. With the revised

curriculum, we will also transition to a 3-year curriculum model, allowing students to graduate a

full year earlier than the norm.

• Graduate Nursing

• DNP courses start this fall. This is a practice focused doctorate. The courses are offered

completely online for APRNs.

• FNP graduates are securing employment and doing very well on the certification exams.

• The Nurse Educator option continues to grow. This program is also offered completely online.


BELLIN COLLEGE ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES

• Student enrollment continues very strong with all allied health programs.

• The Surgical Technology / Surgical Assist program enrolls the first students this fall. This

combination is one of the first in the nation. The curriculum is set up in a 3-year model.

• The Radiologic Sciences program has transitioned to a 3-year curriculum model effective

with this fall’s admission class.

• The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program started a new cohort of students with a

concentration in cardio-vascular. Students will learn adult echo, pediatric echo, and vascular

sonography.

• The Radiation Therapy program enrolled the second cohort this fall. The new virtual reality

linear accelerator was installed this past spring and is a great addition to the curriculum.


BELLIN COLLEGE PHYSICAL THERAPY

• The first graduates of the DScPT program complete their degrees this year.

• Topics of doctoral projects include: Low back pain in correlation with

quality of sleep, patient expectations with physical therapy, behavioral

determinants of patients presenting to outpatient PT, and common

beliefs about pain in patients presenting with musculoskeletal pain.

• HLC approval was received to offer a DPT degree, beginning in fall 2022.

These students will be on campus so you will see them in clinical sites.

Clinical rotations will begin in 2023.

Updates from other programs:

• The RN to BSN online program has 383 students and will graduate 46 this quarter-not specific to

Green Bay. This is an extremely affordable option for our hospital partners that have RN’s looking to

advance degrees. This is an online competence-based education entrance option where students

have 11 weeks to complete real life scenarios- 7 deliverables per course.

• 51 students in the graduate program. Of these, 17 are DNP students, and 6 are in the

“Legacy” MSN. We’re expecting 3 MSN grads at the end of Summer 2021 – and another 3

MSN grads at the end of Fall 2021- again- not specific to Green Bay. ***MSN is less than

$10,000 for degree- Leadership, Technology, and Education
