Kentucky Wesleyan opened its season on Thursday, Sept. 5 with a 42-6 setback to visiting Kentucky State University. The Panthers were out-gained 444-178 in total offense by KSU. Ken-tucky Wesleyan used two quarterbacks in the game as Dalton Oliver completed 10 of his 21 passes for 110 yards while Kemon-ta Jackson ended 5-for-10 for 53 yards. The Kentucky Wesleyan defense held Kentucky State to just 2-for-11 on third-down conversions, but allowed KSU to con-vert on fourth down on all three attempts. Saturday’s game is the second of four non-Great Lakes Valley Conference contests for Kentucky Wesleyan. The Panthers face Lindenwood-Belleville next Saturday and Liberty to close out September before seven straight GLVC games. The Panthers enter Saturday’s game with Lindsey Wilson on a five-game losing streak dating back to the 2012 season.

CHRIS OLIVER - FOURTH SEASON

Chris Oliver begins his fourth season as head football coach at Lindsey Wilson College in 2013. Oliver owns a 17-17 career record after starting the Lindsey Wilson foot-ball program from scratch beginning with the 2010 season. Oliver’s best season came in 2011 as Lindsey Wilson won seven games en route to being ranked for the first time in the program’s history in the NAIA Football Coaches’ Spring Top-25 Poll. During that season, Lindsey Wilson completed its first perfect month in the program’s history -- winning all four of its games during October. Oliver was voted by his peers in 2011 as the American Football Coaches Association Region 1 co-Coach of the Year. During his tenure, Oliver has recruited and coached six All Mid-South Conference performers and 18 honorable mention all-conference selec-tions. Three Blue Raiders have earned MSC Freshman of the Year honors in the first three seasons of existence of Blue Raider football. During the program’s inaugural season in 2010, Oliver led the Blue Raiders to a 5-6 record with more than 95 percent of the team consisting of freshmen. Oliver picked up his first collegiate win as a head coach on Sept. 11 when the Blue Raiders beat Southern Virginia University 44-3 in Lindsey Wilson’s first-ever win at Blue Raider Stadium. Hired on January 7, 2009, Oliver has overseen ever aspect of bringing football back to Lindsey Wilson after a 75-year hiatus. Soon after being an-nounced as the Blue Raiders coach, he signed a pair of local student-athletes on February 4. Oliver concluded his first recruiting class with 65 student-athletes inking with LWC. Since, Oliver has added four additional classes in preparation for the 2013 season. Prior to Lindsey Wilson, Oliver spent five seasons as assistant coach at Ohio Dominican. He served as offensive coordinator at Ohio Dominican from 2006-08. Just like building the Lindsey Wilson program from scratch, Oliver helped start the Ohio Dominican football program. As the lead assistant and recruiting coordinator, Oliver spearheaded the recruitment of 160 student-athletes in 2004. During his time at Ohio Dominican, Oliver led one of the most prolific offenses in the NAIA. In 2006, Oliver’s offense ranked third in the NAIA in total offense and passing offense. The following season, the Panthers led the NAIA in total offense and passing, and they were second in scoring. In 2008, Ohio Dominican was third in passing and 11th in total offense. The Panthers were 26-7 while Oliver was ODU offensive coordinator, which included an appearance in the 2007 NAIA Football Championship Series quarterfinals. Prior to Ohio Dominican, Oliver served as a student-assistant at The Ohio State University. Oliver assisted with the Buckeyes’ tight ends and spe-cial teams. He also assisted with scouting and worked closely with recruit-ing. Oliver helped the Buckeyes to the 2001 Outback Bowl. Oliver graduated from Ohio State in 2003 and later completed his mas-ter’s degree from Ohio Dominican in 2007. He and his wife, Wendy, have two children, Samantha and Patrick.

G am e 1 - vs . C ampb el l s v i l l e Lindsey Wilson football scored 21 unanswered points -- including 14 points after a three-plus hour weather delay -- en route to a 24-17 win over visiting Campbellsville (Ky.) at Blue Raider Stadium. The game which began at 7:15 p.m. CT on Saturday, ended in dramatic fashion at 1:28 a.m. CT on Sunday. With the win, Lindsey Wilson claims the “Battle of Highway 55” traveling trophy for the first time in the four-game series with the Tigers (0-1). Leading 24-17, Lindsey Wilson defense had to defend an untimed down from its own four-yard line to secure the win. Lindsey Wilson’s Avery Ford knocked down the would-be touch-down pass in the endzone from Campbellsville quarterback Bryan Parnes to help the Blue Raiders win their first season-opening game in the program’s history. Branden Cresap finished the game 15-for-32 for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Rome Cotton led the Lindsey Wilson rushing attack with 91 yards. Sam Wilson led the Blue Raiders with 11 tackles while Eric Shaw added 10 tackles -- including eight solo -- in the win.

G am e 2 - @ Rei n h ardt Lindsey Wilson football built a 24-point second half lead and held on for a 50-45 win at Reinhardt (Ga.) University on Saturday, Sept. 7, at Ken White Field. The Blue Raiders -- who improve to 2-0 for the first time in the program’s history -- spoil Reinhardt’s first home game in the pro-gram’s history with the win. The Blue Raiders took advantage of two third-quarter turnovers, scoring touchdowns on each, to turn a 31-17 halftime lead into a 44-17 advantage with just under 10 minutes left in the quarter. Reinhardt (0-2) refused to fold scoring three four-quarter touch-downs to trim the deficit to five (50-45) with 3:43 left in the game. But Lindsey Wilson converted a pair of third downs during the final drive of the game to run out the clock and secure the win. It was a day for the offenses as the two teams combined for nearly 100 points and 1,152 yards of total offense -- Lindsey Wilson ended with 569 compared to 583 from Reinhardt. Led by L.J. Stegall, Reinhardt rushed for 345 yards. The Blue Raid-ers finished with 150 yards on the ground. Lindsey Wilson won the battle through the air with a 419-238 advantage.
