HAROLD(Voice over)

Lily: light of my life, fire of myloins. My sin, my soul.

EXT. - PARK - DAY

LILY walks around the park. All nature seems to revolvearound her. The gaze of her eyes are enchanting and her faceboth seems to evoke innocence and sin. She is seventeenyears old.

HAROLD(V.O.)

There are few women in this worldthat can penetrate a mans heart

and soul as deeply as much as LilyAdams can. Her name alone breedsdesire. And like many other men,she is my obsession.

HAROLD is revealed looking at Lily from a distance. Hisstare is focused and intense. He too is just a teenager, butseems to be more dorky than majestic. He wears glasses andhas a pair of binoculars around his neck that he is neverwithout. Lily again.

HAROLD(V.O.)

One day she will be mine.

Harold again.

HAROLD(Whispering)

One day she will be mine.

INTRO CREDITS

Various images: Roses, a beaker full of chemicals, a waterballoon. The final image where the title "Lily" comes acrossthe screen is an image of Lily walking around a pond in thepark in slow-motion.

INT. - MAIN STREET - DAY

Lily walks down the sidewalk of the main street of the town.As she makes her way down a block, several young men greether. She has an almost creepily satisfied expression on herface the entire time.

The FIRST MAN is a student walking by with books in hand. Hepasses lily as he walks in the opposite direction of her.

FIRST MAN(With a huge smile)

Looking beautiful today, Lily.

LILYThank you.

The SECOND MAN is putting up a poster on a wall.

SECOND MANBeautiful day isnt it, Ms. Adams?

LILYSure is.

The THIRD MAN is eating in a restaurant with a girl. The mansees Lily through the windows. He quickly gets up and getsout the door.

THIRD MAN(Shouting from a distance)

Thats a gorgeous outfit youre

wearing, Lily!

The restaurant man returns to the now angry girl who startsyelling at him. Lily crosses past an alley where Harold ishiding. After she crosses the street Harold sneaks afterher. Lily crosses the street but Harold stays back and hidesbehind the traffic post. He takes a slow peak at her as hetries to figure out where shes going. Out of nowhere, he isfrightened by a voice.

ALICEHey!

Harold turns and sees ALICE standing next to him. She is hissame age and is the most non-threatening person you couldever meet, but still friendly and full of warmth.

ALICEWhat are you doing hugging that olthing? (She laughs). Its Harold,isnt it? You do remember me, dont

ALICE (contd)you? (Pointing to herself) Alice?Advanced Literature? Mr. Sniedersclass?

Harold is terrified. His response is barely audible.

HAROLD(Almost a whimper)

...Yeah...

Harold looks to the crosswalk sign: its orange.

ALICEI would hope so! I always whisperedthe page number to you when you gotcalled on to read. You slept inclass...a lot. So hows your summerbeen? Do anything fun?

HAROLDI...I...

He looks once-more: still orange.

ALICEWell if youre ever free, we shouldhang out---

He looks a final time: still orange.

HAROLD

(Desperately)I-I-I-I, Ive got to go!

Harold runs across the street.

ALICEBut the sign---

Harold is almost hit by a car.

HAROLD(Running off)

BYE!

Alice, slightly disappointed, opens the books shes had inher hands, Pride and Prejudiced.

HAROLD(V.O.)

Ive followed Lily everywhere.

INT. - LIBRARY - DAY

Lily sifts through a bookshelf. Through the cracks of thebooks, Harold peaks through. In a different row of books,Lily picks a book up and leaves. Harold follows her butloses her eventually in the maze of the library.

EXT. - STARBUCKS PATIO - DAY

Lily sits at a table drinking a coffee. Harold stares at herfrom out his car window. Suddenly a car pulls into the spotnext to him, blocking his view, as he desperately tries tokeep watching.

EXT. - GAS STATION - DAY

Lily exits a gas station with a soda and heads for her car.

Amongst various trash bags, Harold emerges, transfixed evenin the trash. Lily drives away, and Harold continues to lookon, even as a gas station attendant throws more trash in.

EXT. - PARK - DAY

A look of distress comes across Harold. He inches forwardfor a better look, and then takes out a small pair ofbinoculars.

Through a vignetted view is SAMUEL. He walks up behind Lilyand surprises her with roses. The two share a romantic kiss.

HAROLD(V.O.)

Samuel Swain. Lilys currentcourtship, and an all arounddimwitted dunce. And yet, I envyhim.

Lily and Samuel hold hands and walk through the park.

HAROLD(V.O.)

Luckily, her relationships dontseem to last long. One day itll bejust her and I again.

Harold puts down his binoculars and leans his cheek on hisright hand with a look of gloom and disappointment. He letsout a sigh.

HAROLDOne day she will be mi---

A look of panic comes across Harold. He quickly grabs hisbinoculars. Lily leads Samuel into a remote area in thepark.

HAROLD(Whispered)

Shit!

Harold gets up and clumsily runs after them.

EXT. - WOODS - DAY

Lily leads Samuel into a clearing in the middle of sometrees where they are not visible to anyone else in the park.Harold makes his way into the area and quickly hides in thetrees so he can watch the two. Lily and Sam are close,

facing each other, and holding hands.

SAMUEL(Looking around)

Ive never been in this part of thepark before. Its beautiful. (Helooks back to Lily). Just like you:Beautiful.

Lily lets out a small smile. Harold scoffs from his hidingspot.

SAMUEL

Being here with you, babe, itjust...it just makes me realizethat I...that I love you, Lily. Idont know if Ive ever said thatsincerely to someone before, butwith you, its true. I love you.

Lilys smile turns fiendish. She sniffs him.

LILYYes. Now youre ripe.

SAMUELRipe?

HAROLD(Still hidden)

Ripe?

Lily tightens her grip on Samuels hands.

SAMUELThat kind of hurts bab---

There is a crunch. Samuel squeaks.

LILY(Full of evil)

Ripe for the kill.

Lily begins to transform into her empowered form. Her pupilsdisappear and her eyes become full blank white, her skindevelops a slight red tint, and her voice changes to that ofa beast.

SAMUEL(Disoriented)

...ba-ba...baby?

Lily roars and opens her mouth. Samuel screams. Haroldwatches from off in horror. Devouring noises off. Lily spits

out a ring that Samuel was wearing. Harold, quivering infear, finally peaks out again. Lily is back to her normalform. She exits.

INT. - DOUGS KITCHEN - DAY

On the kitchen table is a collection of large textbooks onchemistry, physics, and calculus. Also lining the kitchentable is a collection of beakers full of chemicals. DOUG istaking his time carefully letting a drop of a new substanceinto one of the beakers.

EXT. - DOUGS HOUSE - DAY

Harold speeds in with his car and makes an abrupt stop infront of the house. He runs up to the house and rings thedoor bell. He waits a few seconds and then just runs aroundto the open garage and goes through that door.

INT. - DOUGS KITCHEN - DAY

Doug continues his chemistry. Suddenly, Harold bursts in and

runs towards Doug.

HAROLDDoug!

Harold, loosing control of his speed, runs into the tableand knocks all the beakers off with a loud crash of glass.Awkward beat.

HAROLDIm sor---

DOUG(Sterile)

Wait.

Another awkward beat. An abrupt poof explodes from thespilled chemicals.

LATER - Doug washes his hands as Harold explains theincident. Doug is Harolds best friend: a genius,flamboyant, and full of sass.

HAROLDAnd she changed into thismonstrosity, broke his hands, andthen...and then she ate him. Idont know how she managed to doit, I mean Samuel Swain, hes a---

DOUG(Drying his hands)

He was.

Doug exits the area briefly, but still in ear-shot ofHarold.

HAROLDSorry, he was a pretty big guy, andshe just...devoured him. After shefinished, or whatever, she turnedback to normal and just went on

like it was no big deal---

Doug returns.

DOUG(Grabbing something from underthe sink)

And this was so important that youhad to interrupt my work?

Doug exits again.

HAROLDDid you not listen to what I justsaid? Lily Adams is a man-eater.Not metaphorically, but literally.She literally eats members of themale race---

Doug returns with a dustpan full of glass and chemicals.

DOUG(Dumping the waste into atrashcan)

And you couldnt have at leastcalled before hand to let me knowyou were coming, especially when

you know its inconvenient for me.

Doug exits again.

HAROLD(Unsure what to say)

But...she...ate...

Doug returns with keys.

DOUGCmon, lets go.

HAROLDTo where?

Doug flashes his library card.

DOUGThe library, dipshit.

INT. - LIBRARY - DAY

Doug runs his finger along books on a shelf.

DOUG(stopping)

Ahh, here we go. Hold these,please.

Doug piles book after book on Harold until hes holding ahuge stack of books that he can barely handle. The two walkthrough the library, but Harold only manages to make his waythrough slowly. Eventually Doug is out of sight. As Haroldcontinues his way through the library, Alice turns and acorner and passes by him, almost running into him.

ALICEOh Im sorry! Oh hey, its youagain. Remember from the crosswalkthe other day?

Harold desperately tries to keep the books from falling.

HAROLD...Yeah, of course.

ALICE(Getting closer to him)

Do you need some help with those?

HAROLDNo, no Im fine! Really!

ALICESo it seems like youre an avidreader too? I love coming here atnight when theres almost nobodyaround. I can grab any book off theshelves and no one will look at mefunny or judge me. (Trying to carrysome of the books and in turntouching Harold) Are you sure youdont need any help?

Harold again almost drops the stack of books.

LATER - Harold sets the stack of books down carefully whereDoug has been sitting.

DOUGWhat took you so long? Run intosomebody?

HAROLDNo, she almost ran into me.

DOUGShe? OoOoO. Im surprised youmanaged to speak a woman and keepyour pants unsoiled.

HAROLDShut up.

Doug then begins skimming through the books at an extremespeed.

DOUG

(stopping at a page)Right here.

Harold sets the books back down and looks at the book.

HAROLD(trying to read the name)

DOUGLooks like Lily Adams is no

ordinary hottie. Shes a full blowndemonic hottie.

HAROLDWell what can we do to stop her?

DOUG(Reading again)

The demon can only be vanquished inits lesser form, which it onlytransforms to if rejected by a manright before peak passion. At thatpoint, the demon is weak and

mortal, but only briefly.

EXT. - LIBRARY - DAY

Harold and Doug exit the library and head towards theparking lot.

DOUGI am not gay! However, I notattracted to Lily Adams in any way,shape, or form, either.

DOUGNo, because her hair-style isoverdone and she smells like shegot stuck in Bed, Bath, and Beyondfor two weeks straight. But Imstill not risking getting digestedby her, fashion atrocities aside.

HAROLDFine. Then I guess shell just goon devouring man after man. And youknow Lily, she gets the cream ofthe crop. Its a shame that some ofthe most beautiful guys around hereare going to be dropping likeflies.

Doug stands in front of his car. He is dressed nicely andhas flowers in hand. He sighs.

HAROLD(From inside the car)

Go on now.

Doug approaches the park gazebo.

EXT. - PARK GAZEBO - DAY

A group of guys are gathered around Lily, competing witheach other for her attention.

GUY #1So was it Scruffles or Mr. Pawsthat you said was themouse-catcher?

LILYMr. Paws, although Scruffles ismore adorable if you ask me.

GUY #2You know my cat Ralph, he---

GUY #3Ive got a whole bunch of catsactually, and each one is adora---

The guys continue their silly cat banter, each trying toone-up each other. Lily looks bored. Doug approaches andsees the scene. He takes a deep breath, throws the flowersaside, and approaches Lily.

DOUG(Breaking the banter)

Excuse me, Miss, but are these boysbothering you.

Beat. The guys all look at each other, confused. One of them

whispers "isnt he gay?" at some point.

LILYNow that you mention it, they are.

DOUG(To the guys)

You heard the lady.

The guys exit, still confused. Doug approaches Lily. Dougsmells Lilys strong and foul scent.

DOUG

(Covering up his nausea)Thats a lovely scent. What is it?

LILYThank you. Its called raspberryresin. I got it from the Bed, Bath,and Beyond.

DOUGI figured as much. Im sorry, Ididnt catch your name.

LILYIts Lily.

DOUGWell Lily, if youre free thisevening, maybe youd like to havedinner with me?

Lily takes out a pen and writes her number on Dougs hand,somehow managing to do so in a seductive manner. Doug just

looks awkward and uncomfortable.

INT. - CAR - DAY

Doug enters the driver seat of his car. Harold is sitting inthe passenger seat.

HAROLDHowd it go?

DOUGAwful.

Doug smells himself.

DOUGGoddammit!

DOUGWhat?

DOUGShe got her smell on me!

HAROLD

Marking her territory?

DOUGHarold, they will never even findyour body, I swear to God.

Beat. Doug calms down a bit.

HAROLDSo does this mean you got a date?

Doug shoes him the number written on his hand.

DOUGUnfortunately.

HAROLDThere we go. You know, most guyswould go through hell to get thosedigits.

DOUGGrab the cooler out of the back.

Harold grabs said cooler and opens it. He takes out a waterballoon.

HAROLDThis isnt filled with pee, is it?

DOUGNo, even better, acid.

Harold quickly puts the balloon back in the cooler.

DOUGAcid that will kill Lily once shesin her lesser form. Its hard tomake though, and Ive only gotthree balloons, so youll have to

make them count.

HAROLDMe?

DOUGYes, you. Ill be busy trying notto be eaten alive by her, so youllhave to man up and do it.

HAROLDBut---

DOUGNo buts!

HAROLDFine. If I have to.

Doug starts the car.

DOUGAnd Im the fag...

EXT. - RESTAURANT - EVENING

It is later in the evening, but still not dark. Harold sitsin his car. He is intently watching the door of therestaurant. He hears something from a small earpiece heswearing.

HAROLDWhat? Yeah, whenever.

SLIGHTLY LATER - Doug and Lily emerge from the restaurant,talking. They get to Dougs car, where Doug opens the cardoor for Lily. After shutting the door, Doug speaks over

headset.

DOUGAlright, were out.

HAROLDIll be right behind you.Remember, we want to max her outbefore we go for the kill, so whenyou get to the ice cream place, goas sappy as you can.

Dougs car rolls out, and Harold follows in his car slightly

behind.

INT. - DOUGS CAR - EVENING

The two drive along. At one point, Lily looks to Doug andbegins to move her hand on his leg. Doug stares straightforward, incredibly uncomfortable.

DOUG(Trying to change thesituation)

So what kind of ice-cream do you

think youre going to get?

LILYHmm, you know I dont know if Imactually in the mood for ice cream.

DOUGBut I thought---

LILYMake a left up here.

DOUGWhats there?

LILYIts this park I love.

DOUG...Park?

Mhm. And were going to have somefun there.

INT. - HAROLDS CAR - EVENING

Harold is driving along behind Doug. He sees him making aleft into the park.

HAROLDOh crap.

Harold turns into the park.

EXT. - PARK - EVENING

Lily leads Doug down to the park. Harold speeds in and parksby Dougs car. He quickly gets out and starts looking forthem. He notices them and returns to the same spot he lookedon from earlier. Lily and Doug walk along and hold hands.

HAROLD(On headset)

What the hell, Doug?

DOUG(To Lily)

One second, honey bun.

Doug leaves Lily and goes over to a grassy area and bendsdown to find some flowers to give to Lily.

DOUG(Super quiet on headset)

She told me to go here!

HAROLDAlright, then stall her if you can,and for Gods sake, turn up thecharm up to eleven.

DOUGI have! But that only goes so far.

HAROLDI dont know, make out with her orsomething.

Doug picks up a dandelion.

Doug goes back to Lily.

LILY(Looking at the dandelion)

Lily takes the dandelion and smells it, then gives Doug acreepy and seductive smile.

LILY

Kiss me?

Doug gives Lily a light kiss.

HAROLD(Over headset)

Not-uh. Ballsier.

Doug and Lilys kiss gets a little more romantic.

HAROLD(O.H.)

Ballsier.

Doug and Lilys kiss gets even more romantic.

HAROLD(Almost shouting)

Ballsier!

Doug takes Lily and the two start making out passionately,although Doug looks like he really hates it.

HAROLD(To himself)

There we go.

The two continue to make out until Lily stops him for asecond.

LILYCome with me.

Lily pulls Doug along into the hidden area of the park.Harold sees them and starts after them. As Harold makes hisway though the park, he comes across Alice picnicking.

ALICEHey!

Harold stops in his tracks.

HAROLD(In both terror andfrustration)

ALICEWhy is that we keep seeming to runinto each other?

HAROLDGee, I--I--, I dont know---

ALICEWhy dont you join me, huh? Ivegot plenty of food, and look atthis: Nathaniel Hawthornes TheScarlett Letter, freshly checkedout from the library. Nothing goesbetter with eating than reading!

HAROLDI, um, I really cant, actually---

ALICEWhy not? Got somewhere to be?

Alice gets up.

She puts in a bookmark, carefully lays down her book, andthen goes after Harold.

EXT. - WOODS - EVENING

Lily leads Doug into the area. She grabs him and the twostart making out once more. Harold, running out of breath,finds his hiding spot again, and then opens the cooler withthe water balloons.

HAROLD

(Over headset)Im ready whenever.

Lily stops the making out for a second.

LILYClose your eyes.

Doug, unsure but willing, closes his eyes.

LILY(Whispering seductively)

Now open.

Doug opens his eyes to see Lily dangling a condom in frontof his face.

LILYYou like that?

Dougs face says no, but:

DOUG(Super uncomfortable)

...Yeah...

Lily grabs Doug and the two start making out once more.

HAROLD(Over headset)

Go for the rejection!

Doug practically throws Lily off himself.

LILY(Trying to smile)

What?

DOUGAnd seriously, do you bathe in handsoap? Or is that just the foulstench of the hairspray you use totry and contain that (pointing toher hair) mess?

LILY

(Seemingly hurt)I...I...

DOUGAnd whats worse is that just frombeing around you I smell like bathsoap too.

Lily starts to transform into her less form. Again, herpupils disappear, but this time her voice becomes more highpitched and weak (like a hurt dog) and her skin becomescracked and wrinkly. She seems to develop a grey-ish tint.

DOUGOh.

HAROLDMy.

HAROLD AND DOUGGod!

EXT. - TRAIL - EVENING

Alice looks around for Harold as she walks along.

ALICE(Calling out)

Harold? Harold?

Alice stops. She sighs.

(CONTINUED)

ALICEDarn it. I knew 18th centuryromantic literature was too strong.

EXT. - WOODS - EVENING

Lily gives out a weak roar.

DOUGDo it now, Harold!

Harold, from his hiding spot, pathetically throws a waterballoon at Lily, but misses by a long shot. Lily grabs Doug,who then tries to wrestle out her grip.

DOUGYou have to get closer than that!

Lily pushes Doug down. Harold is stricken with fear andcant move. He panics.

HAROLDShit, shit, shit, shit, shit.

Lily puts her foot down on Dougs throat.

DOUGDo it Harold!

HAROLD(Still frozen)

You can do this. Shes just likeyou. She just happens to be anunholy abomination.

DOUG(Struggling)

Harold!

HAROLDOne second! Cmon, cmon, cmon---

DOUG(Suffocating)

DO IT!

Alice emerges into the area.

ALICEHarold?

Alice sees Lily and screams.

ALICEWhat is that thing!

HAROLDGet out of here, now!

Lily begins to approach Alice.

ALICE(With no where to run)

Hey...you know thats a real greatlook for you---

Lily roars and opens her mouth.

HAROLDNO!

A sudden energy hits Harold. He grabs a water balloon andsprints to Lily.

HAROLDHey you fugly bitch: think fast!

Harold jumps and throws the balloon at Lily. The balloonexplodes and the acid spills all over her. Lily screams inAgony and starts to steam. She eventually gives her lastbreath and falls over dead. Alice, Doug, and Harold layaround Lilys corpse.

DOUG(Recovering)

Whos the girl?

ALICE(Shaking Dougs hand)

Alice.

DOUGDoug.

The trio sit on a curb, drinking juice boxes. Doug pausesfor a second.

DOUG

Again.

HAROLDAgain?

DOUGAgain.

Doug gets up and heads towards a trash can.

HAROLDGive em hell.

Harold turns to Alice.

HAROLDHey.

ALICEHey.

HAROLDIm sorry about being a...uh..a---

ALICEAn asshole.

HAROLDThat, yes. That. Im sorry.

ALICE(Smiling)

Its alright. "To be social is tobe forgiving". Robert Frost.

HAROLDI love Robert Frost. Where The SideWalk Ends was one of my favoritebooks as a kid.

Harolds error irritates Alice at first, but her annoyancequickly passes with an honest smile.

HAROLDHow about we go on a picnictomorrow, you know, when were notso disturbed and disgusted.

Doug returns to the group.

picnic tomorrow. Would you like tojoin us?

DOUGSure.

Harold realizes that hes misplaced his binoculars. He takesa quick look around.

ALICELooking for something?

He stops.

HAROLDUh...no. Not anymore.

The three continue to sip their juice on the curb.
