Reviews Cronulla Sharks  

On Monday the 25th of February members from the Cronulla Sharks Football Team came to LPPS to talk about resilience. We learned how to make decisions using the front part of our brain rather than reacting to situations based on our feelings. Thank you Mrs Fogarty for organsing this event.

Sydney Swans   

On Monday the 25th of February some players from the Sydney Swans came to LPPS and taught us about AFL. They asked lots of questions and showed us how to pass a ball. One of the players had started playing AFL when he was the same age as me. - Sarah 1/2S 

 

SRC  

On Thursday the 28th of February the K-2 SRC leaders went to the bottom site to learn about how to be a good leader. We played lots of games in small teams and learned how to work together. Mr Paget and Mrs Martyn listened to us while we spoke about ideas to improve our school and help people around us. We like being SRC because we represent class and we can help people. Thank you to our class mates for voting for us as SRC. Thank you to Mr Paget and Mrs Martyn for organsing this amazing day

Zone Swimming Carnival  

On Tuesday I went to the zone swimming carnival to represent our school. It was held at Caringbah Swimming Pool. I raced in the 8 years boys 50 metre freestyle and came 3rd in my heat, 31st overall. It was very crowded at the pool. - Koby B -1/2 D 

I swam at the zone swimming carnival. There was a tent for every school that was participating. I had a great day and loved that I was able to be part of it. - Piper S 1/2S 

 

National Day of action against Bullying -  

On Friday the 15th of March we celebrated the national day of action against bullying. We made wristbands with kind words written on them. We handed them out to everyone on the k-2 site including little siblings and teachers. We started lots of conversations at lunchtime on how to be a good friend. This day reminded us to be respectful to each other.

Harmony Day 

We celebrated Harmony Day on Thursday 21/2/19. In class we spoke about how it is important to include everyone. We learned about the word diversity and how some of our parents and grandparents were born overseas. We found out that half of our class had a parent or grandparent that was born in a different country. Harmony day has helped us to remember that your appearance, religion and what country you were born in doesn't matter. We are all equal and belong together.  - Zoe R 1/2D

It’s a laughing matter! Research shows that laughter is a universal language that is recognised by all cultures.  Having a good laugh relaxes the mind and body. It can help us to be able to cope with worries and pain and give us the resilience to try again if we don't succeed at first.

Berry Good Recipes  No bake easter egg fruit tart  

Ingredients 

● 1 cup – almond butter ● 1/4 cup – honey ● 2 tsp – vanilla extract ● 1/4 teaspoon – salt ● 2 cup – oats, dry ● 3/4 cup – Greek yogurt, vanilla ● 3/4 cup – strawberries ● 3/4 cup – blueberries ● 1 medium – banana ● 3/4 cup – grapes, green 

Directions 

1. In a microwave safe bowl, add almond butter, honey, vanilla and salt. Microwave for 20 seconds, then stir until smooth. 

2. Take 1 cup of the oats and place in a blender. Blend until the oats are finely chopped and resembles flour. Set aside. 

3. Add the other cup of oats to the almond butter mixture and stir. Slowly add in a little of your homemade oat flour at a time until you get a mixture that you can form into a crust. Depending on your brand almond butter the amount of flour may vary. 

4. Take small amounts of the mixture and form Easter egg shaped disks. Place onto parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup. 

5. Once all the Easter eggs are formed, spread on a layer of greek yogurt. Top with sliced fruit to make your designs and enjoy!

Book Review  Sunday Chutney  

The book was about an unusual girl with long black curly hair with a very inspiring imagination. She travelled all over the world with her Dad’s work so she was always the new girl at school and sometimes kids excluded her.  

 

My favourite part was how she used her imagination when she felt lonely. She was always full of ideas and I love that she never gave up.  

 

The main message in the book was to never give up and believe in yourself so your dreams can come true. It also gave a strong message about not bullying people and always including new kids at school. 

 

I can relate to this book because I was the new kid at Lilli Pilli Public School at the start of the year. I’m grateful that everyone at LPPS included me and I instantly made lots of friends. I feel lucky to be learning in an amazing class with incredible new friends.

Assembly  

On Thursday in week 5 we led the assembly with Isla, Jackson and Liana. We loved that we could meet new kids. It was a little bit scary speaking to the whole of k-2 and parents. We had to use big loud voices because the microphone wasn’t working. We overcame our nerves by believing in ourselves. Congratulations to the students that received the principal awards and student of the week. We enjoyed celebrating with you and shaking your hand.

 Secret Teacher  

At assembly there is a secret teacher. It changes every week. He/She watches every class to see who is the best behaved. The class that wins takes derick for 2 weeks. In week 5 1/2D won him. He has been a little bit naughty. He has been doing gymnastics on their art wire, borrowing an iPad and logging onto WUSHKA, reading books on the window sill and even sitting on Miss Dewings chair and writing in her diary when she isn’t looking. CHEEKY!
