1.Dual Head Chestpiece

Instructions

Prepare for using the stethoscope to hear the sounds:1.Check the Dual Head chestpiece: Make the sound channel active2.Binaural Adjustment: Put the stethoscope correctly in your ears3.Headset Tension Adjustment: Ensure comfortable fit4.Decide to Use the Diaphragm or the Bell5.Check the Seal6.Stethoscope Placement: Place the Stethoscope Correctly

Note: The stem can be rotated in either clockwise or counterclockwise directions. If the Indicator dot is oriented on the same side as the diaphragm, the dia-phragm is active for auscultation. (Fig.1) To switch to the bell side of the chestpiece, Index (rotate) the chestpiece 180º as shown in Fig.2 until the chestpiece “clicks” into place and the indi-cator dot is aligned with the bell side.

FriCARE dual frequency stethoscope has a dual head functionally so it is important to have the proper side open that is in use. The WHITE indicator dot 8 has been placed on the stem 7 to facilitate the identification of the active sound channel. If the diaphragm 5 is open, the bell 6 will be closed, preventing sound from coming in through the bell, and vice versa.

The stethoscope needs to point in the same direction as your ear canals. (Fig.3)

2.Binaural Adjustment

Put your two Eartips, and it should point out like your nose. If it' s pointed toward you, that means it is the wrong direction. (Fig.5)

To properly use Eartips 1 , holding your stethoscope in front of you, ensure that the Eartips are pointing forward and away from you before in-serting them. (Fig. 4)

If this is reversed, you properly hear nothing or it will affect the sound quality of the patient and you. Placing the stethoscope correctly in your ears ensures that the eartubes will align with your ear canals for comfort and maximum sound transmis-sion.

3.Headset Tension Adjustment

To adjust the spring tension of the binaural headset for a more comfortable fit, securely grasp both of the metal binaural tubes and either extend the tubes fully apart to reduce the tension (Fig. 6) or squeeze them together until they fully overlap to increase the tension. (Fig. 7)

To make the binaural tubes align in the same level, hold each ear tube and stretch them up and down with opposite direction. (Fig. 8) Check the bin-aural tubes after the adjustment. Repeat it as necessary.

4.Decide to Use the Diaphragm or the Bell

Note: To keep the tight seal, it is not suggested to replace the diaphragm too often. Please keep the diaphragm clean to to prevent debris from accu-mulating.

5.Check the Seal

Stethoscopes rely on an airtight seal in order to transmit body sounds from the patient to your ears. Check the tubing to make sure there aren’t any punctures, and it’s securely connected to the chestpiece. Also, double-check that the dia-phragm is held in place with a tight seal if you have replaced the diaphragm.Loose parts in the chestpiece, loose or cracked tubing, or improperly seated eartips can prevent an airtight seal.Make sure that the earpieces fit snugly and have a good seal to keep out am-bient noise. With Clairrie narrow and soft eartips, the comfort is never a question when in use.

The bell side is traditionally used to hear low frequencies, like some heart murmurs and some bowel sounds.

High frequencies such as breath sounds and normal heart sounds can be captured by using the diaphragm side of the chestpiece.

If you usually carry your stethoscope in a pocket, or don't clean it often, lint or dirt properly accumulate and obstruct the sound pathway. Remove any dust that might be obstructing sound.

Clean and Care

Sometimes a patient's heart is under a lot of fat or tissue or is surrounded by fluid. With some patients, you just have to keep moving the stethoscope around the heart area until you find the right positioning for it.Find a quiet area to ensure that the body sounds you want to hear will not be overpowered by background noises.

6.Stethoscope Placement

Wipe with a 70% isopropyl alcohol solution

Keep away from extreme heat, cold, solvents and oils.

Immerse it in liquid, or use steam steril-ization.

Put it in a car or in a pocket.

Place it on bare skin to minimize noise interference.

Use it over thick clothing or dry hair.

How to Change the Diaphragm

Visually examine the ring to ensure that the flexible edge is smoothly engaged inside the rim. If necessary, flex the assembly by pinching the outer rim edge between the thumb and fingers.And you also can place the diaphragm di-rectly on the chestpiece then assemble the rim.

Remove the Diaphragm

With the diaphragm side up, grasp the rim with the thumbs and index fingers of bothhands and roll the rim off the edge of the chestpiece.Remove the diaphragm from the rim and clean the parts in soapy water or wipe with alcohol isolation. Dry all parts and surfaces thoroughly before reassembly. Fig.10

Assembly and Replacement of the Di-aphragm

Insert the flexible edge of the diaphragm into the groove of the rim.(Fig.11) This is best accomplished by starting with the rim positioned above the legible side of the dia-phragm.And you also can place the diaphragm di-rectly on the chestpiece then assemble the rim.

Slowly roll the rim around and over the chestpiece edge using both thumbs, moving in opposite directions around the chestpiece. (Fig.14)Visually inspect the edge where the dia-phragm engages the rim for uniform con-tainment.Minor adjustments may be made by slightly pulling and rolling the rim away from the diaphragm, allowing the diaphragm to slip into position.

To attach the rim assembly to the chest-piece, engage the groove of the rim (with the diaphragm attached or the diaphragm on the chespiece) around the chestpiece at one point and hold it in place with your thumbs.

The lifetime warranty covers the entire stethoscope (including tubing) against defects in materials or craftsmanship. Your stethoscope will be re-paired or replaced without charge for the life of the instrument in case of defect. However, the lifetime warranty does not cover discolored tubing, theft, loss, improper handling, accidents, or failure to follow operating instructions.
