Filters
You may have noticed in discos, movies or stage productions that different colours are used to create special effects. These are produced by the use of filters.
COLLECT ray box prism filters
1. Place a green filter in front of the white light. What colour emerges from the filter?
2. Shine your light through the prism to produce a spectrum of colours. The image below clearly shows you the colours in the spectrum.
Put a red filter in between the light and the prism. What happens?

3. Leave this set up and add a green filter behind the red filter. What happens?
4. This time, place a blue filter after the prism. Then add the green filter behind the blue filter. What happens?
5. Repeat this for other coloured filters: yellow, orange, purple, magenta.
