See any board member at a dance

Hi Country Friends,

This has certainly been a more normal Long Island winter so far this year with only a couple exceptions like our dance date in January. We missed seeing everyone, but I feel like we made up for it with a fantastic dance in February with the band Yankee Rebel and DJ Lyndy. The band scheduled for January, Tied to the Trax has been rescheduled for the May 6th dance.

Have you been checking out the ads in our email dance reminder messages and the newsletter? I know a num-ber of folks got to see Kathy Mattea and Bill Cooley at the Landmark Theater in February – what a wonderful evening with Kathy performing a wide collection of her music, and I didn’t realize what an amazing guitar player Bill Cooley is. (Check him out on You Tube) There are several big name performers coming to Long Island and a bunch of dance activities being planned during the next couple of months so be sure to see the ads in this issue.

If you didn’t get your LICMA “Dance Calendar” refrigerator magnet at the last dance, pick up one at our next dance on March 25th with the band “County Line” and teacher Sandy & DJ Neil. I think we may be past winter storms by then, but if it becomes necessary to cancel a dance we will send a message to everyone on the e-mail distribution list, a notice will be placed on the web site, and the message on the phone Hotline will be updated by 3pm – let’s keep our fingers crossed.

We continue to update the Dance Instruction page on the licma.org web site and this is an excellent time to join a class and work on some new dance moves. We are using email as our primary method to communicate with everyone so if you know of someone who is not receiving our messages, please asks them to send a message to [email protected] or see Terry at the door during a dance.

President's Message (continued from page 2)

As we begin another new year, please think about ways you can help support our country music association and give back to your organization. Serving on the LICMA Board of Directors is an excellent way to contribute and help shape the direction of our organization. Several of our board members are spending more time in Florida this winter, so we need volunteers to help with the newsletter and communication, membership, and dance stuff - if you are able to help, please send us a note at [email protected]. Our annual general meeting will take place this year on Thursday March 23rd (7:30 – 9:00pm) at the Paradise Dinner in Hauppauge – please consider attending and sharing your ideas or sending us a note at [email protected]

On behalf of the entire LICMA board, we would like to say thank you to the many volunteers and sponsors who share our interest and donate their time to make your association events possible. We look forward to seeing “you all” real soon.

“LICMA is FUN Country”Jim Teeple

This is the list of the dates for our dances in 2017.

If you are planning an event, please check this list so there will not be a scheduling conflict. In this way all members will be able to support all country functions, benefits or other

events. If we can support each other, we can help keep country alive!

Thanks.
