Virtual Server will be available to customers in two editions:

– Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Enterprise

– Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Standard

Features are the same, scalability is the only difference. Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Standard supports four processors and Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Enterprise supports up to 32 physical processors.

• Similar to VS 2005 VPC client-based virtual machine products make it possible to run multiple operating systems simultaneously on one workstation.

• Virtual machine products are often used to run applications that are only compatible with a specific version of an operating system – (e.g. an accounting system that only runs on

Microsoft® Windows® 98), and to test applications on different versions of an operating system.

• Similar to VS 2005 VPC client-based virtual machine products make it possible to run multiple operating systems simultaneously on one workstation.
