Library Lover’s News
Library and Information Week is an initiative of the Australian
Library and In-
formation Association (ALIA) and is being held from 23 May to 29
May, 2016.
This week aims to raise the profile of libraries within
the community, with thisyear’s theme being ‘Discover More’ .
Monday 23 May is ‘10 things you never knew
you could find in a library’ day. Many libraries across
Australia will be upload-
ing interesting things found within their library collections to
their social media
using the hashtag #fabulousfinds .
National Simultaneous Storytime is held on Wednesday 25 May.
Libraries,
schools and childcare centres across the nation will be reading
‘ I got this hat’ by
Jol & Kate Temple at 11.00am. In 2015, over 500,000
children were read The
Brothers Quibble at over 3100 locations.

photograph to date has been this one
of the opening of the Presbyterian
Girls’ College at Warwick, Queensland. The caption on the
photograph reads
‘The property, which is most charmingly situated, was formerly
the home ofMr. G. P Barnes, M.L.A. It was opened by Lady Helen
Munro Ferguson.
Widely known as the Glad School, the Presbyterian Girls’
College was founded
in 1918, opening on 5 February 1918.’
