Long Island Postal and Industry Co-Chair Corner Our third “Mail Design Professional” MDP Program was held on February 10th and 11th 2016. It was the usual success! The instructor, Kyle Moore from the National Center for Employee Development (NCED) for the U.S. Postal Service, shared his expertise with a packed room. All those who attended gave rave reviews of the class. The Mail Design Professional (MDP) program teaches mailing industry personnel how to design mail to enhance its compatibility with U.S. Postal Service® automated equipment. It also coaches mailers on how to achieve lower postage prices through automation. At the end of the class, those who wanted were treated to an impromptu detailed tour of the Mail Processing Facility. It was an excellent end to the class, as the students got to see firsthand the equipment Kyle discussed during the class. The PCC extends its gratitude to Mid-Island In Plant Support for providing the tour. Thanks again to Kyle for making another trip from the 60 degree weather in Oklahoma to the typical February Long Island weather. Our next monthly meeting will be on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. The topic of our March meeting is 2016 Postal Promotions & Every Door Direct Mail® (EDDM). In what has now become a tradition, USPS Senior Sales Executive Louis Figurito will speak to us about upcoming Postal Promotions and incentives planned for 2016. Lou’s presentations are always informative and entertaining. Come to the meeting to see how your company can benefit from these promotions. Friendly reminder: All meetings will be hosted at the Mid Island P&DC at 160 Duryea Rd in Melville. You should enter at the gates marked “Employee’s parking lot” and enter the building at the entrance nearest the flag pole. As always, there is no cost to attend our monthly meetings, however, Space is Limited - so it is important that you pre-register for each event. REGISTER online at the LI PCC website at http://www.LongIslandPCC.com.
