Going the extra mile

A client arranged his contents insurance through Lucas Fettes & Partners, but arranged his buildings insurance through his bank. A pipe burst whilst he was away on holiday, causing extensive damage to the point that reinstatement works meant the house had to be evacuated. Unbeknown to the client, his buildings insurance only provided cover for alternative accommodation up to £16,000. Lucas Fettes & Partners intervened and, using our long standing relationship with underwriters, arranged for the contents insurer to pick up the balance of the alternative accommodation costs, which amounted to £80,000 over a two year period, even though there was minimal damage to the contents. This saved the client a total of £64,000.

Lucas Fettes & Partners are able to arrange policies which automatically provide up to 20% of the building sum insured for alternative accommodation claims.
