¿De qué sirve...? No olvides que después de la preposición "of" hace falta un verbo en gerundio"ing".

Stop
El significado del verbo "stop" cambia según vaya acompañado del infinitivo o del gerundio. "Stop"más el gerundiosignifica "dejar de hacer algo".
Ella dejó de salir con Tom el mes pasado. She stopped going out with Tom last month.
La fábrica dejó de producir detergente hace
mucho tiempo.The factory stopped making detergent a long time ago.
Estoy pensando en dejar de ir al gimnasio. I'm thinking about stopping going to the gym
Él dejó de fumar tras su infarto. He stopped smoking after his heart attack.
¿Podéis dejar de hacer tanto ruido?. Can you stop making all that noise?
En cambio, "stop" + el infinitivo significa "pararse para hacer algo." La estructura es la misma para el verbo en su formaintransitiva (pararse) como para su forma transitiva (parar algo o a alguien).
Él paró cinco minutos para fumar un cigarro. He stopped for five minutes to smoke a cigarette.
Ella se paró para estornudar. She stopped to sneeze.
Pararé en Borgoña para comprar vino.I'll be stopping in Burgundy to buy some
wine.
Los Guardias Civiles nos pararon para hacerle
a mi marido el test de alcoholemia.
The Police stopped us to breathalyse my
husband.

Es posible que hayas empezado varias veces a estudiar inglés y después de unos meses abandonas. Solo
podrás avanzar en tu aprendizaje si eres constante. Los expertos afirman que el 70% del aprendizaje del inglés
descansa en la comprensión auditiva. Si eres capaz de escuchar y entender, en poco tiempo comenzarás
también a hablar. Así es como aprendimos de niños nuestro propio idioma. Escucha estos breves diálogos todas
las veces que necesites (no te importe si son 10 o 20 veces), hasta que seas capaz de entenderlos sin mirar el texto
escrito que podrás consultar haciendo clic en el enlace de abajo donde dice "Read more".
Recuerda:
1.- Después de haber escuchado los diálogos con el texto, vuelve a escucharlos de nuevo, pero ahora sin el
texto. Asegúrate de que ahora sí comprendes cada palabra.

Observamos la misma diferencia con la expresión equivalente a "aparte", "excepto" o "aparte de que". Cuando le sigue unsustantivo, simplemente decimos "apart from".
