Sport Etudes FeeThe fee for the incoming Sec. 1 and returning Sec. 2 students is $150. The fee coversadministrative charges, study hall supervision costs, transportation costs, health & safety

prevention and any other expenses incurred to the school in support of the program.

Secondary 5 French Final ExamThe MEES provincial final exam for Secondary 5 students will take place May 15 from 9:00 a.m.to 12:00 p.m. (Compréhension Ecrite Exam). All students mustbe present for this exam. A letterwill be given to students and emailed to parents. A motion to dismiss students once the examis over as any other exam day was made by Sandra Greco and seconded by Casey Gagné. A11were in favour.

Secondary 5 English Final ExamThe MEES provincial final exam for Secondary 5 students will take place on May 29-30-31 from9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. All students must be present for this exam. A letter will be given tostudents and emailed to parents. A motion to dismiss students once the exam is over as anyother exam day was made by Angela Antonacci and seconded by Catherine Clarabut. All werein favour.

D} CompetitionMs. Sementilli is the teacher heading the event at the school that is being organized by theLeonardo Da Vinci Centre in St. Leonard. Six EMSB schools are involved in this competition.The semi-finals will take place taking place in April. Tickets cost $20 for our in-house sale and$25 if purchased at CLDV. The winning DJ will be invited, along with a school representative,to be the headliner DJ at a dance or event held by the winning Calabrian secondary school inCalabria, Italy. A request was made to for the school to subsidize the cost of the ticket by $15 inorder to encourage our DJ. Following a verification with Mr. Vitantonio/ the school wouldsubsidize 25 tickets for a total of $375. A formal approval of this motion is being requested. Seeemail for instructions.

Graduation CeremonyThe graduation ceremony will take place on June 21st at Edouard Montpetit in Longueil from7:00 p.m. -9:30 p.m. There is a $100 deposit fee for gowns at the time of pick-up. We are offeringtransportation to the theatre at a cost of $5 per student. Tickets will cost $15 each and are limitedto four per student to start and if extras are required, it will be on a first-come, first-served basis,if any remain. A motion to approve the expenses was made by Stephania Mambro and secondedby Paul Karpontinis. All were in favour.

PromThe prom will take place on June 26th at Club de Golf Metropolitaine Anjou. The cost is $125 perstudent ($135 for a guest). Late fee tickets will cost $135 or $145 for a guest. Cocktails are at6:00 p.m. for students and parents are invited to stay as well. The meal begins at 7:00 p.m. for

students. A motion to approve the expenses was made by Sandra Greco and seconded by]Marisa Papillo. All were in favour.

Distinction Assemblies &' BreakfastAssemblies will take place on March 21-22, by level. The breakfast will take place on March 28during first period.

Robotics CompetitionThe event will take place on May 4th from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Le Taz (8931 Papineau). A teamof four senior students will be competing. They will travel to and from the venue by taxi withMs. Trnkus.

Population U.pdateThere are currently 201 Secondary 1 students registered for the 2018-2019 school year. The

projected student population for the next school year is 1003 students, 25 more students thanlast year's registration period. Postcards were sent reminding parents to come register.

Commissioner's^Report:Sylvia Lo Bianco was not present at the meeting.

Chair Report/Regional Deleeate Report:Frank Mazzariello presented the Proposed Commitment-to-Succeed-Plan of the EMSB Council ofCommissioners. Since the document wasn't reviewed, we would ask that each of you consultthe attached documents - CTS Final Draft (lengthy document) and then theResolution 18-02-21-10. Once reviewed/ please consult the two questions on the ConsiiltationSurvey for CtSPedited and email me your responses to the following two questions beforeFriday, March 23rd so that the results can be compiled, and Benny Berneti can then send ourresults to the Secretary General of the EMSB.

Secretary/Treasurer's Report:Stephania Mambro informed the group that the Staff Appreciation Sweet Break held onMarch lst/ was a great success and thank you emails have been sent to all those who helped andsent in sweets for the event. The bake sale during the parcnt-teacher interview sessions was alsosuccessful and a total of $255 was collected. With the $307 collected during the first sale, a totalof $562 is available for student activities. Student Council will discuss and let the GoverningBoard know what they would like to purchase with the funds.

Student Council:Samantha Amaral Chiovitti and Valentina Tsilimidos were present and reported on thefollowing topics:

> Coffee House was held on February 9th with many newcomers and returning performers.There were over 50 attendees and was a great success!

> Keynote Speaker - On February 19th, former Shident Council president, singer & songwriter,Cinzia Abbate, came to school to perform for all levels with guitarist, Chase Atwood Steele,and give an inspirational speech about body image and mental health.

> On February 20th, members of Student Council hosted a WE School activity with 8th Gradestudents from Carbonear Academy in Newfoundland. The activities, funded by Westjet,included games, icebreaker situations and a pizza dinner.

> WE Day Montreal took place on February 21st. Thirty Student Council members were treatedto a day of inspirational speeches and musical performances.

> Pink Shirt Day was held on February 28th allowing students to show their support againstbullying.

> Staff Appreciation - Personalized thank you cards and Spring bulb flowers were distributedto each teacher and staff member to show our gratitude for all they do.

> Black History Month - On February 27th/ Student Council members assisted Mr. Monachinowith a presentation commemorating historical Black icons, including a powerfulpresentation by our very own, Mr. Walton.

> On March lst/ Student Council assisted parents and staff during the Parent-Teacher Interviewsession.

> On March 2nd, Student Council members were treated to the 6th annual skating outing at Le

Atrium.

> Empathy Day took place on March 21st. Secondary 4 sh^dents participated in variousexperimental activities.

> The current total for the WE Charity fundraising is $3,255.

Teachers' Report:Paul Karpontinis, on behalf of all the teachers & staff/ thanked the administration and parentvolunteers for all the special attentions during Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week.

Sport-Etudes Program Report:Casey Gagné informed the group that Secondary4 soccer Sport-Etudes student, BenjaminCollins, is being recognized by the Impact Academy and will participate in a new CBC podcast/M.ic Drop, created by Shari Okeke. He will be followed and interviewed throughout his day atschool in an interest to discuss the challenges of balancing high school life (homework and social

pressures) with his life as a competitive soccer player.

Casey Gagnéalso extended congratulations to Secondary 5 Honours Program student, MatthewTyler Cicero, who has been an Honour Roll student throughout his five years at Lester B.Pearson while playing competitive level hockey. He has been selected by the Midget AAALaval-MontréalRousseau Royal, one of our Sport-Etudes partners, as one of the 15 students whowill compete for an academic diligence award. He will participate in a two-day interview

process/competition in the month of April.

Varia:School Uniform Supplier Meeting> Meeting was held with the Loft Uniforms to finalize the uniform piece selections.

Next Meeting:The next Governing Board meeting, scheduled for April 17th, will be cancelled since the annualEMBS Volunteer Dinner will be held on the same date. Any items that require approval will bedone via email; therefore, please ensure that you respond to emails accordingly within therequired time delay. Should there be a more pressing issue, a meeting date will be set.
