Procedure/ Allocation of

TimeTeaching and Learning Activities Remarks

Introduction(± 7 minutes)

Teacher shows two same length of objects in front of

class.

Teacher asked a question to pupils about the length /

height of the object.

Which object are longer ?

Which object are shorter ?

Pupils will said all the object have a same

length.

Teacher asked two pupils to come in front and

measure it and say aloud the measurement by using

centimeter(cm) and millimeter(mm) unit.

Teacher explained that today’s topic is about the

relationship between millimeter and centimeter and

convert the unit between mm and cm and vice versa.

Lesson Development

1(±15 minutes)

Relationship between mm and cm.

Teacher guide pupils to compare the length between

mm and cm using two ruler.

Group activity

Pupils measured the length of paper, cut and paste it

on exercise book.

The length of paper strip are same between cm and

mm but in different size.

Example:

= 10 mm

= 1 cm

Pupils do group activity.

Weaker pupils will lead by clever pupils to measure

the length of paper strip.

Teacher stress that 10 mm is same with 1 cm at the

end of the activity.

Lesson Development

2(±15 minutes)

Convert units of length from mm to cm and vice

versa.

From the previous activity, teacher ask pupils about

the relationship between mm and cm.

*Pupils asked that 1 cm equal with 10 mm.

Teacher guide pupils to convert:

1.cm to mm using multiplication.

Example :

23 cm = _____mm

= 23 X 10

= 230 mm

Page 3: Lesson Plan Using Cooperative Approach

2. mm to cm using division.

Example :

70 mm = _____cm

= 70 ÷ 10

= 7 cm

Teacher stress that there is no remainders when

divide the numbers and the decimal points when

divide.

Teacher shows other example on the board.

Lesson Development

3(±15 minutes)

Exercise

Measure length of paper strip in mm and cm.

Pupil convert the measurement from cm to mm and

vice versa.

The weaker pupils will be conduct by the clever

pupils to make the conversion.

Appendix 2*Worksheet

Closure(±8 minutes

Teacher explain : Length in mm and cm are same. Only the

numbers are change. If we want to change from cm to mm we need

to multiply the number in cm with 10. If we want to convert the number from cm to

mm, we need to divide the number in cm with 10.

If we want to take a long/ tall measure it is more suitable to use cm and for shorter object we can use mm.

Reflection

Disadvantage of this method.

1. Pupils don’t give full concentration during activities. Some pupils still talking to each other during activities.

2. Weaker and passive pupils don’t making communication and not asking for help from group members. Some group members also don’t want helping them to do the activities until teachers asked them to do it.

3. Group members help the weaker pupils by doing the activity not helping them to understand how to do the activities.

4. Unsuitable for the pupils that are still not empowered 2M ( Mengira & Menulis).

5. Teachers may be fail to detect problem or misconceptions made by pupils if the group is big or too many pupils in the class.

6. Pupils may be develop misconception about learning process if they are given autonomy in the whole activities.

Advantage of this method

1. Encourage pupils be independent.

2. It’s promote motivations and thinking process during activities.

3. Give autonomy and responsibility to the pupils to arrange their time to finish the work given.
