Inviting a speaker into the school/class
ACTIVITY SEVEN
There may be a child in your class (or school) who was premature or a sick full-term baby and spent time in the NICU. Or perhaps a child in your class had a sibling who was recently in the NICU.
Invite that parent in to speak to the class (or school) about how small the baby was, what the baby needed help with and how long the baby spent in hospital. Invite the parent to share photos if they have any.
If a speaker cannot be arranged, we have provided images and details of NICU graduates that can be discussed in conjunction with the worksheet ‘All about me when I was born’.
