Time : 11.45-12.45 (60 minutes)
Day : Monday
Date : 30.08.2010
Objective:
At the end of this lesson, pupils should be able to read and write the time to five
minutes by using analogue clock by answering at least 6 from 8 questions given in
the worksheet.
Previously Acquired Knowledge (Prerequisite Knowledge):
Pupils should know about:
i) One-digit number
ii) Two-digit number
iii) Counting in fives
Strategy:
Content hierarchy
Set Induction:
Teacher asks a question to whole class, Who is wearing a watch to school? Please
raise up your hands. Teacher asks a question, What is the time now?. Ask pupilsabout the shape of clock that they have seen before.

ii) Teacher introduces thehour and minute handusing a clock face.
iii)Pupils ask to count in fivesfrom 0 to 60.Teacher moves the hand
around the clock face.

i) Pupils ask to read the timeon the flash card and write
it on the blackboard.
Teacher shows varioustimes by using flash cardsas examples.
Teacher: What time isthis?
Example:
Therefore, it is ten fifteenand pupil writes it as10:15.
ii) Pupils ask to pick a card ina box provided. Call upon a5 pupils. Each pupil picks acard and say loudly in frontof the class. Then, theyshow the time in a card byusing real clock given.

Pupils ask to form a group of2 or 3. Then, they follow thegames instruction given byteacher.
Before pupils start cut outthe clocks, teacher askspupil to read the time in thesheet given.

receives a copy of theBingo board and acopy of a page withclock pictures on it.
ii) Pupils will cut out the
clocks and glue themon the Bingo board.iii) They can arrange it

there)iii) Teacher willcontinue pick a carduntil pupils get 5 in arow vertically,horizontally, ordiagonally.iv) The first groupto get 5 in a row isthe winner.
Evaluation(15minutes)

i. Pupils answer all thequestions given.
ii. Teacher checks theanswer together withwhole class.
Closure (5minutes)
i. Teacher summarizes onread and writes time to thenearest 5 minutesinvolving the importanceof time in daily life.
