Grammar focus: Present perfect and Past Simple (Have you ever?)Objectives: Stimulate the students to improve their vocabulary, focusing on three out of four abilities of communication: reading, listening and speaking. Create a friendly atmosphere, so the students can feel free and confident to join the conversation. Demonstrate that we can learn English from different sources at any time. Clarify that the acquisition of a new language can be enjoyable. ContentsWarm up: The class will start with a conversation about fairy tales. Questions using present perfect will be made in order to introduce them to the students. This class is supposed to be given after a class of present perfect, so the students will know how to make a sentence without the ever. We are going to introduce the ever. (10 minutes)Exploring the grammar: This part is dedicated to explanations about present perfect. It is important to observe that we wont explain in a boring way. It will be very easy to understand and full of examples. (15 minutes)Activities: As a first activity, we will play a guessing game in which we will find out the names of famous fairy tales in English. The students will be divided in two groups to form teams. Each team will have one chance to guess and if they get it right, they will have another turn. In this activity we work the speaking ability. (10 minutes)The second activity will explore the reading and listening ability. The students will be organized in pairs, and each pair will have a fragment of a story, but not with its name written. They will try to guess the story, considering some key words that will be highlighted in the fragment. Then each pair will read the story to the group, so they can also guess the story. To conclude the activity and the class, we will play a short story, told by a native speaker, so they can practice the listening. We will say some key words before playing the record to make it easier. (25 minutes)This class is based on guessing game because we want to show the students that when they already know something about the text they are supposed to read, the reading process will be easier and they will also acquire vocabulary faster. Strategies and Resources:Interactive class;Games;Speaking, listening and reading exercises; Media Devices.Evaluation:We will observe how the students react to the activities and how they use their skills in order to participate the class.
