Subject : Science
Class : 2E
Date : 30 June 2008
Time : (40minutes)
No. Student : 25 students
Theme : MATTER IN NATURE
Learning Area : 1.0 Water and solution
Learning Objectives : 1.4 Analysing solution and solubility
Learning Outcomes :
- Explain what suspension is
- Explain what solubility
Previously Learnt Concept : Students learnt the compound of water in form one topic of the variety of earth resources on earth.
At the end f the lesson, student should be able
a) Content Knowledge
Record the data in the results table accurately in writing.
Conduct the experiment in groups to illustrate the difference between a solution and a suspension.
b) Science Process Skills (SPS) / Thinking Skills Thinking Strategies (STS)
Observe the changing occur in the experiment. Making conclusion after doing the experiment.
c) Noble Values / Scientific Attitudes
Being systematic when doing the experiment

NOTES
Eliciting ideas(5 minutes)
Teacher asks three students to come in front the
class to do the demonstration.
Teacher give the two students with the different
things. One student with a spatula of sugar and
one student with a spatula of flour.
Students will put the materials in the 25ml of
water and stir it.
Students and teacher will observe what will
happen to the sugar and flour. And what solution
can be observed.
Tell student meaning of solution and
suspension(bahan terampai)
- Teacher guides the
students to do the
demonstrations
- Teacher writes the
students answer on the
white board.
- Teacher writes the topic

ACTIVITY
Title :
Solution and suspension
Aim :To show the differences between a solution and suspension.
Hypothesis:
Zinc nitrate powder and sodium chloride powder can dissolved completely in water but
starch powder and corn flour cannot dissolve in water
Variables:
Manipulated variable: Types of materials use (zinc nitrate powder, sodium chloride
powder, starch powder and corn flour
Responding variable: solution that form
Fixed variable: volume of water
Materials/ apparatus:
NO. Apparatus/ Materials Quantities1 Zink nitrate powder Half spatula2 Sodium chloride powder Half spatula3 Starch powder Half spatula4 Corn flour powder Half spatula5 50ml beaker 4 units6 Glass rod 1 unit7 spatula 1 unit
Procedure:
1. Add half a spatula of zinc nitrate powder to 25ml water and stir slowly.
2. Record your observations of the condition of the mixture
3. Repeat step 1 using sodium chlorides powder, starch powder and corn
flour.
Result :
Write down the observation in the Science process skill book.
Conclusion:
Solution contains solute dissolved completely in waterSuspension form when solute does not dissolve completely in water.
