From the Office of the President Fellow Shipmates, As President of your USS Ashland LSD Association, I personally hope all our members had a wonderful Christmas and New Years , and are looking forward to 2016. I want to encourage all present and past LSD- 48 men and women to become active members of your Association. The members of LSD- 1 were the ones to get our Association going. Many have passed away or have health problems and no longer can attend. Our attendance at the Reunions for the past four years has dropped off greatly and we need more members to attend the Reunions. For our Association to survive we need the members of the LSD- 48's involvement. The information about the 2016 Reunion in Norfolk, Virginia can be found in this issue. I hope all members will try to attend at least one day, if not all. I would encourage you to get your reservations in to the Reunion Host early. I received a telephone call from a family member of one of our members, listed in our roster, that I had sent an invitation to attend the 2016 Reunion. I was shocked and saddened when she informed me that her father and mother had both passed away, father in 2003 and mother in 2007. I would encourage a family member of our Association's member, to notify our Association when a member passes away. As President and our Reunion Host for 2016, I personally want to invite you to attend this years Reunion and become an active member of the USS Ashland LSD Association. I hope and pray I will see many of you at this year's Reunion in Norfolk, Virginia in June. Your President, Bob Parrish WAYS AND MEANS We hope your Holidays were peaceful and shared with family. With winter doldrums setting in, it might be a good time to think about what to donate for the raffle or auction. Your donations are always appreciated. Hoping to see you in Norfolk.
