Firstborn died Pharaoh: although considered the high priest of the gods, he had no power to save Egypt or to save his son from death

What was the message?

• To Pharaoh and the Egyptians?– These false Gods were supposed to protect Egypt.– This is a time of magic and mysticism, not science.– The Lord was more powerful than these.

• To the Israelites?– What if Moses and Pharaoh had just made a deal?– The Israelites needed to be convinced that this

was the true God

Why was Pharaoh so stubborn?

• The Israelites had at least a sliver of faith to build on, the Pharaoh did not
