Countable and Noncountable NounsCountable and Noncountable Nouns
Now we are going to talk about two groups of nouns. These are countable and noncountablenouns. If something is countable, we can put an S on it. For example, one apple, two apples.
However, some things cannot be counted.
One group is liquids.milk (and products made from milk: ice cream, cheese, butter)cola tea coffee beer wine water
Another group is powders or grains. flour salt sugarrice pepper
Another group is meat.beef lamb pork chicken fish
We can count kilos, pieces, or cups of these things.one kilo of chicken one glass of milk two kilos of flourone piece of bread
There are more groups, but we will do just these for now. For these words, it is important to knowhow to use articles. Look at this grid:
