Here are three possessive adjectives in French
Possessive Adjectives
In French, just like regular adjectives, possessive adjectives must agree in gender and number with the noun.
If the noun is feminine, you must pick the feminine form of the possessive adjective.
If the noun is plural, you must pick the plural form of the possessive adjective
Example Ma soeur = my sister
Ses cousins = his/her cousins
Ton grand-père = your grandfather
BEFORE A VOWEL
Before a singular noun that beings with a
vowel, you must always pick the
masculine form of the possessive
adjective
Mon ami = masculine vowel
Ton amie = feminine vowel = your friend
Son amie = feminine vowel =his/her friend
Notre enfant = our child
Possessive Adjectives
Another way of showing possession is
using de plus a persons name after the
noun
De/d’ plus a person’s name is like using ‘s
in English
EXAMPLES
le frère d’Andrea= Andrea’s brother.
Les cousins de Marc = Marc’s cousins
________________________ = Marie and Claire’s
Aunt
