Stewardship
2nd Sunday of Lent – February 25
“’Here I am!’ he answered” Genesis 22:11
It is easy to say, “Here I am, Lord” when we are
kneeling in church, but how easy is it to say: “Here I
am, Lord,” when a neighbour needs our help, when
we are invited to join a parish ministry, or when we
are asked to provide financial support? Often times
we are called when it’s not convenient for us.
Discipleship is not always easy, most of the time it
will make us uncomfortable and vulnerable.
Please pray for the sick,
their families, and caregivers
Please call the office if you have any information regarding
changes in status for the persons named above.
Feed the Hungry
Knights of Columbus invite you to
partake in donating a can a day
during the 40 days of Lent. All
cans will go to our Food Bank.
Message from Most Reverend Albert LeGatt,
Archbishop of St. Boniface
The illuminated Saint John’s Bible, Book of the Gospels &
Acts, on tour in our Archdiocese in early 2018, is a wonder
to behold! The great beauty of its illuminations speaks to
the honour that we should always give to the Word of God
in the Holy Scriptures. Set in a vibrant modern art style
with such rich symbolism, it invites us to stop, to reflect,
to pray and especially to listen, always attentively listen,
as God reveals his unending love for us.
Seeing the Word of God
An Evening with the Saint John’s Bible:
In 2018, we mark the 200th anniversary of the
arrival of the Gospel in Western Canada. This year
we can see the Word of God in the form of the
Saint John’s Bible, a handwritten, hand-
illuminated Bible. More than illustrations, the
illuminations are spiritual meditations on the
Word of God. Come and experience the beauty of
this sacred work of art in an evening of prayer on
Sat. March 3 at Holy Redeemer.
Lenten Talk #2: Sermon of the Mount If you missed the first talk by Dr. Ruth Ashrafi about
Lent and the Jewish Days of Repentance, you missed
an outstanding revelation of the Jewish
understandings of the repentance process framed in
the context of the Old Testament story of Joseph and
his brothers.
Dr. Ashrafi will continue the series of three Lenten
talks on Sunday, March 4th, with the first of two talks
about the Sermon on the Mount (the second will be
March 18th). The March 4th talk will focus on
spiritual growth, including repentance and spiritual
growth, the importance of our actions, the spiritual
growth of the generation Israelites that left Egypt,
and the mindset of our soul.
Come and hear! Enjoy fellowship afterward! Talks
begin at 7:00 PM and are held in the church.
SHARE LENT 2018 - TOGETHER FOR PEACE
Together for Peace is
the theme of this year’s
Share Lent campaign
which really speaks to
people. Why? Because we all wish for peace to reign in
our world. Because it is an appeal that resonates with
the events happening in our world today and is a
rallying cry that brings hope to the generations of today
and tomorrow.
Envelopes for this year’s Share Lent campaign can be
found in your personal envelope box or on the counter
in the gathering space. To learn more about the
campaign please go to www.devp.org/sharelent.
Irene Welch or Diane Skalenda would also be very
happy to answer any questions you may have.
