Chapter 1 Introduction

The Lens Selection software provides help for selecting cameras, calculating the installationparameters, and simulating surveillance scenario.

1.1 Running EnvironmentThe Lens Selection Web Client has requirements for the browser.

You can access the Web Client via the following browsers:• Internet Explorer 10 and later versions.• Google Chrome 50 and later versions.• Firefox 50 and later versions.

1.2 ConventionsIn order to simplify the description, we define the “Lens Selection software” as “software” in thefollowing chapters.

Chapter 2 Login

You can log in to the Web Client by entering domain name tools.hikvision.com in the browser.

2.1 Register an AccountYou need to register an account before you logging in to the Web Client.

Steps1. Enter tools.hikvision.com in the browser.2. Enter the login page.

- Click the Lens Selection in the middle of the web page to enter the Welcome page.- Click the Login in the upper right of the web page to enter the Welcome page.

3. Click Register Now to enter the Register User Account page.4. Enter the email address and click Get Verification Code.5. Enter the verification code got from the email password, and confirm password.6. Click Register Now.

2.2 Log in to Web ClientAfter registering an account, you can log in to the Web Client.

Before You StartBefore logging in to the Web Client, you need to have an registered account. For details, seeRegister an Account

Steps1. Enter tools.hikvision.com in the browser.2. Enter the login page.

- Click the Lens Selection in the middle of the web page to enter the Welcome page.- Click the Login in the upper right of the web page to enter the Welcome page.

3. Enter the registered email address and password, click Login Now.

NoteIf you login by clicking Login in the upper right of the web page, you need to click Lens Selectionin the middle of the web page after the step3。

2.3 Reset PasswordIf you forget the password, you can reset the password by email.

Steps1. Enter tools.hikvision.com in the browser.2. Enter the login page.

- Click the Lens Selection in the middle of the web page to enter the Welcome page.- Click Login on the upper right corner of the web page to enter the Welcome page.

3. Click Reset Password to enter the Reset Password page.4. Enter the registered email address and click Get Verification Code.5. Enter the verification code you received.6. Create a new password, and then confirm password.7. Click OK.

Chapter 3 Operate Lens Selection Software

You can add different camera models to the software and then adjust their installation parameters(such as lens model, filed of view parameters and range of view parameters).And after definingyour desired installation parameters, you can simulate surveillance scenario to further adjust theparameters to meet your surveillance requirement.

The home page of the Web Client is shown as followings:

The descriptions of different areas of the home page are shown as the followings:1. Area for selecting camera models and adjusting cameras' parameters2. Mounting view, GIS map, and 2D view3. Camera list4. Monitoring result, including pixel map and scale map5. Area for adding, saving, sharing and exporting solution6. Area for viewing user manual and submitting user feedback7. Area for metric and imperial switching

3.1 Flow ChartThe general operating process is shown as the followings:

NoteFor different camera type, some parameters and detailed steps are different.

3.2 Create a New SolutionBefore designing solution, you need to create a solution, based on which you can add cameras,adjust camera's parameters and simulate surveillance scenario.

Steps

NoteYou can add up to 50 solutions.

1. Log in to the Web Client, create a new solution.- For the first time logging in to the Web Client, the system will pop-up a prompt box to

remind you to add a default solution, click OK to create a default solution.

2. Design the solution, such as adding cameras, adjusting cameras' parameters and simulatingsurveillance scenario.

3.3 Select Camera ModelYou need to select a camera model of different camera types for further operations such asadjusting the Field of View parameters and Range of View parameters.

Steps1. Click the camera model or camera icon on the right panel to open the Select Camera Model

window.

Figure 3-4 Select Camera Model Window2. Select a camera type from the Camera Type drop-down list.3. Optional: Filter the camera model by focal length, resolution and keywords.4. Double-click to select a camera model.

NoteIf you can't find a required camera model in the provided camera list, you can add customcamera. See Add Custom Camera for details.

The default parameters of the camera, such as resolution, mounting height, field of viewparameters, and range of view parameters, will be displayed on the right panel.

3.4 Add Custom CameraIf you can't find a required camera in the provided camera list, you can add one.

Steps1. Click the camera model on the right panel to open the Camera Model Select Window.2. Click Add Custom Model on the upper-right corner of the window to open the Add Custom

Model window.

NoteYou can only add network camera and analog camera.

3. Set the required parameters, including camera model, camera type (network camera or analogcamera), resolution width, resolution height, focal length type, focal length, horizontal FOV, andvertical FOV.

NoteFor camera model, you can enter up to 64 characters.

4. Optional: Enter the camera description.

NoteYou can enter up to 256 characters for camera description.

5. Tap OK to save the settings.The custom model will be displayed on the camera model list of Custom Camera.

6. Optional: Perform the following operations to edit or delete camera.

Edit Move the cursor on the custom model and then click Edit to edit the cameras'parameters.

Delete Move the cursor on the custom model and then click Delete to delete the camera.

3.5 Add CamerasAfter selecting the camera model, you can adjust the cameras' parameters on the right panel or onthe Mounting View, and then add cameras to the camera list.

3.5.1 Set Pixel Density Level

On the Mounting View, different colors represent different pixel density levels (recognition levels).You can adjust the range of the pixel density level provided by the system. Or you can add custompixel density level.

Steps1. Click Settings on the upper-right corner of the Mounting View to open the Settings window.

The default pixel density levels provided by the system are as the followings:Confirmed

Set as green by default. For person monitoring, the software can confirm the person's face.Recognized

Set as orange by default. For person monitoring, the software can recognize the person'sface.

DetectedSet as blue by default. For person monitoring, the software can recognize the person's clothcolor and behavior.

BlurredSet as gray by default. The object is blurred in the range.

2. Optional: Click to add a custom pixel density level .

NoteYou can add up to 3 custom pixel density levels.

3. Optional: Adjust the pixel density level's parameters:1) Select a pixel density level from the color bar.

2) Drag to adjust the range of pixel density.3) Adjust the related parameters, including level name, color and details.

4. Optional: Click to delete custom pixel density level.

NoteOnly custom pixel density level can be deleted.

5. Click OK to save the settings.

3.5.2 Adjust Camera's Parameters

After selecting camera models, you need to adjust the camera's parameters for desiredsurveillance. For different types of cameras, the parameters needs to be adjusted and the steps areslightly different. See the following tasks for details.

3.5.3 Manage Cameras in Camera List

You can preview the selected camera information, edit the camera parameters, and delete thecamera from the camera list.

Steps

NoteFor one solution, up to 100 cameras can be added to the camera list.

1. Adjust camera parameters and then add cameras to camera list.

NoteRefer to Adjust Camera's Parameters for details.

2. Perform the following operations on camera list according to your requirement.

Preview CameraInformation

Click Preview to view the information of all the cameras in cameralist.

Edit CameraParameters

Select the camera to be edited, set the parameters on the right panelor on the Mounting View.

NoteAfter editing the parameters on the right panel, you should click theblank area of the right panel to make the edited parameters takeeffect.

Delete Camera Select a camera from the camera list and then click Delete.

Show or HideCamera List

Click to hide the camera list.Click to show the camera list

3.6 Simulate Surveillance ScenarioAfter adjusting camera parameters, you can simulate surveillance scenario to check whether theconfigured camera parameters meet the surveillance requirement. If not, you can further adjustthe parameters in the scenario. Two scenario modes are provided, namely, GIS map and 2D view.

3.6.1 Display Camera on Map

You can add cameras to the map to adjust the mounting parameters (e.g. lens direction andmounting angle) for desired surveillance.

Steps1. Click → GIS Map → OK to enter the map.2. Select map type: GIS Map or Satellite.3. Click Set Key on the upper right corner of map to enter the key provided by Google for showing

the GIS map.4. Enter a location in the input box, and then click the search icon or press Enter key.5. Select one camera in camera list, and then drag it to the map.

NoteOne camera can only be added to the map once.

6. Optional: Add camera by camera icon on the map:1) Click the camera model on the right panel to select a camera model. See Select Camera

Model .2) Click on the map, move the cursor to the destination position on the map(The cursor

turns to a plus sign). Click your mouse to add a camera of current model to the map. Thecamera will be added to the camera list simultaneously.

Note• The field view of normal cameras and fisheye cameras are different. You can adjust theinstallation angle of normal cameras.

• On the map, the colors around the camera represent different pixel density levels. You canadjust the pixel density level, see Set Pixel Density Level for details.

3.6.2 Display Camera on 2D View

You can add cameras to 2D view to adjust the mounting parameters (e.g. lens direction andmounting angle) for desired surveillance.

Steps1. Click → 2D View → OK to enter the 2D View page.2. Optional: Perform the following operations on the plan view.

Import a LocalPicture

Click to import a picture (e.g. the blueprint for camera deployment ora static map) from the local PC and use it as the background of the planview.

Zoom in/out Select the plan view, scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and zoom out.

Move PlanView

Drag the plan view to move it.

Adjust ScaleLevel

a. Click .b. Drag to draw a line on the plan view.c. Enter a specific number in the input box appearing at the end of the

line to adjust scale level of the plan view.3. Select one camera in camera list, and then drag it to the plan view.

NoteOne camera can only be added to the plan view.

4. Add camera by camera icon on the plan view:1) Click the camera model on the right panel to select a camera model. See Select Camera

Model2) Click on the plan view, move the cursor to the destination position on the map(The cursor

turns to a plus sign). Click your mouse to add a camera of current model to the plan view.The camera will be added to the camera list simultaneously.

5. On the right panel of the web page, adjust the range of view parameters. Watch the change ofcamera's monitoring range and do some further adjustments.

6. Select a normal camera on the plan view, adjust the installation angle of the camera.• :Drag to adjust the installation angle of the camera roughly.• :Drag to adjust the installation angle of the camera slightly.

camera's monitoring range and do some adjustments.8. Click Save.

3.7 Save SolutionAfter completing the adjustment of the mounting parameters, you can save the solution to thesystem and view all the saved solutions in My Solution. You can also edit, share or delete thesolutions.

Before You StartAdjust the mounting parameters, add the cameras to the camera list and simulate the surveillancescenario.

Steps1. Click on the upper-right side of the main page to edit solution name and click OK.2. Click Save on the upper-left side of the main page to save current solution to the system.3. Enter My Solution to view all the saved solutions and perform the following operations

according to your requirement.

Edit Solution Click to edit the solution.

Share Solution Click to generate the URL address of the related solution, and then clickCopy to share it to others.

NoteYou can click Share on the upper side of the home page to share currentsolution when editing it.

DeleteSolution

Click to delete the solution.

3.8 Export ReportYou can export the report of the solution in PDF file to the local PC for viewing. The report includesthe camera information, as well as the mounting view.

Before You StartAdjust the mounting parameters, add the cameras to the camera list and simulate the surveillancescenario.

Steps1. Click Export and the solution will be saved to C:\Users\username\Downloads by default.2. Open the saved PDF file on the local PC to view the export.
