What is the Leicestershire LINk?

LINk stands for Local Involvement Network. This is a national initiative and there is a LINk in

every local authority area. The LINk is a way of giving people the power to improve the

health and social care services around them. The LINk is a network of networks, joining

people together to have their say on how services are run.

The Leicestershire LINk will work closely with the health and social care services that the

people of Leicestershire use, including services across county boundaries. We will also work in

partnership with LINKs in neighbouring counties. There are separate LINks for Leicester,

Rutland, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

What is happening in the Leicestershire

LINk

The Leicestershire LINk is in a transitional

stage, getting itself ready for a launch in the

new year. The LINk has a Transitional Steering

Group that will be in place until March 2009,

when elections will be held for a LINk board. A

host organisation, the CVS Community

Partnership, has been appointed to help create

and support the LINk.

Current LINk Work

The Transitional LINk has four sub groups that

are currently working hard to establish the

LINk, these are:

● Development Group

● Communications Group

● Quick Wins Group

● Governance Group

Development Group

The Development Group will agree the proposed

structure for the future of the Leicestershire

LINk, for agreement by the Transitional Steering

Group. To consider and discuss how the LINk

should be launched. They will also monitor the

implementation of any engagement work

undertaken on behalf of the LINk.

Communications Group

The Communications Group is looking at all the

publicity materials needed to launch the LINk

including logos, membership forms, leaflets,

and posters.

Quick Wins Group

The Quick Wins Group will be doing some short

term work over the next few months trying to

improve social care and health services for the

people of Leicestershire.

The Governance Group

The Governance Group is looking at all the

policies and procedures which will be necessary

to ensure that the new LINk runs effectively.

These policies will include things like terms of

reference for the Steering Group of the LINk

and a Code of Conduct for members.
