Architectural white concrete enablespatterns to be created through a variety of techniques - the repetitionof building elements, contrastinghigh and low relief panels and differing aggregates.

Across the United States and aroundthe world, cement-based concretesare the foundation of our communi-ties. Products using Lehigh whitecements consume less energy per tonthan comparable building materialssuch as steel, glass and clay brick.

White concrete's outstanding thermalproperties reduce peak heating andcooling loads, as well as a structure'sheat gain, through solar reflectance(albedo). White concrete surfacescontribute to a better environmentby reducing the "Heat Island" effect*.(* Lawrence Berkeley Report LBNL-48334)

ENERGY CONSERVATION

SECURITY

The need for perimeter security hasgrown with each crisis facing ourcountry since World War II. It hasbecome essential to protect vitalaspects of our democracy: govern-ment buildings, U.S. embassies, courthouses, airports, sports arenas, corporate buildings and even privateresidences. Lehigh white cementused to create anti-ram planters, bol-lards, spheres and barriers is the per-fect solution for integrating aestheticdesign into modern security.

ARCHITECTURAL PRECAST

The design advantages of architectur-al precast concrete are enhanced bythe pure whiteness of Lehigh whitecements. Versatile architectural pre-cast concrete units may be used asload bearing or non-load bearing wallpanels, as well as conventionally reinforced or prestressed structuralmembers. Precast made with Lehighwhite cements is ideal for energy-effi-cient curtain wall units, which effectively reduce heating and cooling costs and allow for customdesign.

ARCHITECTURALCONCRETE MASONRY

Enhanced developments in the manufacture of architectural concretemasonry units are greatly expandingdesign horizons while simplifying thestructural elements of masonryprojects. Leading architects havefound these versatile building products to be a rewarding mediumin which to achieve self-expression.

In addition to design flexibility, concrete masonry construction offersa reliable and affordable structuralscheme. A myriad of surface texturescan be achieved with fluted, split-faced, ground-faced or othercustomized concrete block made withLehigh white cements and installedwith mortar using Lehigh whitemasonry cement.

The option of adding colored pigment provides a wealth of colorschemes to every masonry project.

Glass block units installed with Lehighwhite masonry cement can also addan exciting design dimension.

GLASS FIBERREINFORCEDCONCRETE (GFRC)

Glass fiber reinforced concrete is aprecast product, comprised of Lehighwhite cement and sand mixed withalkali-resistant glass fibers. The fibersare similar in purpose to the reinforc-ing steel that is placed in tensile stressareas of concrete. This added flexuraland tensile strength makes GFRCarchitectural panels strong, yet light-weight, and adds to their resistanceto impact. This architectural systemoffers a wide range of possibilities insize and shape.
