Compliments of The Natchitoches Times JAZZ FESTIVAL REVIEW Rock and roll leg- end Eddie Money and Louisiana native, coun- try/pop superstar, Joe Stampley will headline the Natchitoche Jazz/RB Festival this Friday and Saturday, April 12-13, on the d o w n t o w n Natchitoches Riverbank. Money soon became a rising star after signing a record- ing deal with Columbia Records in the late 1970's. Fans immediate- ly fell in love with his sound and his first album, which featured hits like “Baby Hold On” and “Two Tickets to Paradise". Money's first album went double platinum and brought him more success with a stream of Top 40 hits. In 1986, he released Can’t Hold Back, which featured the classic, Grammy nominated duet with Ronnie Spector, “Take Me Home Tonight.” The song reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Along with having sold more than 28 mil- lion records, Money’s songs have appeared in dozens of movies and television shows, and have recently been included in hit video games like “Grand Theft Auto” and “Guitar Hero.” Stampley, a Springhill, LA singer/songwriter, has over 60 charted records to his credit. He has produced such hits as "Soul Song", "Too Far Gone", and the number one hit "All These Things". In 1976, he had eight singles charted on the Billboard coun- try charts and was awarded "Billboard's Single Artist of the Year.” He has also been inducted into The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame in three care- gories. One as a solo artist, another as a song writer and the third as a member of the popular 60s and 70s group, The Unique. He has also been inducted into the Louisiana Country Music Hall Of Fame, as well as the Texas Country Music Association Hall of Fame. Another entertain- ing group, L.A. Roxx, will bring its unique sound to Natchitoches. L.A. Roxx (formerly known as Butt Roxx) has been hailed the "World's Greatest Glam Rock Tribute Band" by music critics and fans everywhere. Its show guaran- tees the time of your life, performing such hits as "Living On a Prayer," "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Here I Go Again" and "Pour Some Sugar on Me.” Regional acts will include Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs, Hardrick Rivers and Rivers Revue, Lukejazz, Billy O'Con and the Convicts and many others. “With twenty bands performing on three stages, we believe our Festival offers something for every- one,” reported board member Julie Brewton. "We will feature rock and roll, rhythm and blues, country, blue- grass, zydeco, blues, jazz, and everything in between." Brewton said there will also be a variety of food vendors and lots of activities for the kids. Tickets in advance are $8 for adults, $4 for students and free for 12 and under.
