Legacy URS Infrastructure Datasource PW Web Browser Install guide

About ProjectWise ProjectWise is an engineering project team collaboration system which is used to help teams improve quality, reduce rework, and meet project deadlines. ProjectWise is a suite of integrated software applications from Bentley Systems aimed at helping manage, find, and share CAD, GIS, BIM and Office documents. ProjectWise provides a secure environment where project information can be stored and managed. Individuals can check out a document for revisions and check it in when the revisions are complete. Others can read the document while the document is checked out but cannot revise it. ProjectWise is not an FTP site. To take full advantage of file management and performance, documents should be worked on from ProjectWise and the system will manage the check-in and check-out in the background for you.

Important Note This document is intended for use only by Joint Venture firms and sub-consultants performing work jointly with AECOM or working on AECOM projects.

Third Party Software Used To ensure that any compressed file packages containing files with non-ASCII characters in their file names are properly extracted, AECOM suggests that you use 7Zip to compress / extract such file packages. 7-Zip can be downloaded free from http://www.7-zip.org/

Prerequisite - Trusted Site Settings To ensure the ActiveX controls install cleanly in the section Web Client Installation below, we recommend adding the AECOM ProjectWise Web Site to your Trusted Sites list in Internet Explorer. Instructions for this are as follows:

1. In Internet Explorer go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options

2. Click the Security tab. Select the Trusted Sites in the Zone selection.

3. Click the Sites button.

4. In the Add this website to the zone field, add the base URL for the site e.g. https://pwweb.emi.urscorp.com

5. Click the Add button.

6. Click the Close button.

7. Click OK on the Internet Options dialog.

Prerequisite - Compatibility View List Settings (In IE 11 Only) There are some issues with the IE 11 support that affects the availability of some commands in the document menu of PW Web. Microsoft have made changes to the way in which IE 11 trusts ActiveX controls for initialization and scripting that is preventing the File Transfer Control for being loaded and therefore the availability of commands such as checkout and check-in. The solution is to

Add the site’s domain to the Comparability View List

1. In Internet Explorer, open the Compatibility View Settings dialog (Tools->Compatibility View Settings)

2. Add the sites domain to the list. E.g. urscorp.com

3. Click the Add button.

4. Click the Close button.

Web Client Installations Installing the ProjectWise Web Server Client Components The ProjectWise Web Server Client Components are a required ActiveX control which must be installed to allow the user to check-out/check-in documents from the AECOM ProjectWise Web Site. This control is being offered from AECOM as a separate install component due to most companies not allowing ActiveX controls to be installed from the internet. The install file for this can be located on an AECOM gateway site. If your company does allow ActiveX controls to be installed from the internet these controls will be installed automatically.

NOTE: Installation of this control requires the user to have Administrative privileges on the workstation. After being installed, you will find a listing for the ProjectWise Web Server Components in Control Panel as shown below.

Follow the setups below to install the ProjectWise Web Server Client Components.

1. If you haven’t done so already, go to the previous section and add AECOM’s ProjectWise Web Site to the Trusted Sites list in Internet Explorer.

2. Download the ProjectWise Web Client Installer. A link to the download is provided here: https://dms.eu.aecom.com/AECOM_Downloads/pw_web.zip
