Religious Wars

• Wars would break out between the 2 religions

• Thirty Years War (1618-1648)

• These wars went throughout most of Europe

• In 1648, the Peace of Westphalia was established

• Recognized the permanent division of the 2 churches

voluntarily entered into a covenant with people which they could be saved

• It would be seen in a democratic view

• Mayflower Compact of the Pilgrims

• Pilgrims were radical Puritans, they wrote an agreement that they would make “just and equal laws”

• People argued that the covenant influenced federalism

• Shared power between organizations

• Calvinist churches allowed members of the church with its members
