If you close your eyes and think back 15 years, you’ll find yourself in the year 2001. That was a monumental year for many and is among the more memorable in many young people’s lifetimes. If you ask a group of people what they remember about 2001, the first thing that most will recall is the September 11th terrorist attacks in New York and in Washington DC. While vividly locked in to so many of our memories for infamous reasons, there were also a large number of other notable events also took place that year.
Notable events in 2001:
President George W. Bush was inaugurated after the most controversial presidential election in American History.
The on-line encyclopedia called “Wikipedia” is founded
The US budget office projects a $5.6 trillion budget surplus across the next decade.
The Vancouver Grizzlies officially make Memphis, TN their new home.
John Calipari finishes his first season as coach of the Memphis Tigers.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. wins the Pepsi 400, the first race at Daytona after the death of his father, Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Both Microsoft’s “Windows XP” and Apple’s “Ipod” are introduced.
Enron files for Bankruptcy.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and The Fellowship of the Ring are both released and become world-wide top grossing movies.
Tennessee loses to LSU in the SEC Football Championship game, and is therefore pushed out of the BCS national Championship game. (They Defeat Michigan in the Orange Bowl, though!)
But something many in our congregation will remember from April 1st, 2001 is that it is the day that our congregation first worshiped in our brand new sanctuary. The doors were opened, the sanctuary filled with people, and Rev. David Brown led the congregation in worship. Two weeks later, on April 15th, Faith CP Church celebrated its first Easter worship service in that new building. Fifteen years later, we will again open the doors, our sanctuary will fill with people, and we will worship the same God and our same risen savior.
Across the last decade and a half, the use of our building has changed and grown. Within our walls, we now offer a home to weekly dance classes, monthly dances, girl scouts, home school co-op, the Mid-south Great Banquet, numerous basketball and baseball programs in addition to our own Basketball program, Room in the Inn and Family Promise homeless ministries, and our incredible 4th of July community celebration. While a Church is a family of people and not a building, our building is being used to worship, to serve, to support, to meet needs, and to be the visible presence of Christ in our community.
Thank you for your dedication and support for the physical home for our church and feel free to celebrate by placing a special financial gift supporting our building and our grounds in the mini-church at the front, right side of the sanctuary this Sunday in worship.

PRAYER CONCERNS
Pat Meeks is very weak but her brother, Ken, said “she
is still kicking but not very high”. Her cat, Leo, who has
been very special to her has been adopted by a hos-
pice nurse and Pat is very grateful he has a new good
home. She is at Reynolds Hospice, 1520 W. Poplar, Col-
lierville, TN 38017
Bill Phalan felt and broke his hip this month, and is re-
ceiving rehab following surgery.
Dave Niland is having breathing problems and con-
gestive heart failure.
Marion Stroud is in hospital recovering from surgery to
remove fluid from lungs.
For all our members who continue to deal with health
issues, including surgeries, illness, and good health in
general.
For all of our homebound members.

Cindy Womble’s brother-in-law, whose father died
this month.
Jim Rambo whose great niece, 29-years-old, died
very unexpectedly this month.

HELPING HANDS
Last year the church garden donated almost 2,000
pounds of food to the Food Bank. Since the church
garden will not be grown this year, Helping Hands is
sponsoring another type of Food Bank. They will be
asking for a different food to be brought each month to
be donated.
For the month of April, the selected foods are peanut
butter and/or canned soup.
Please make sure that the items are not out of
date. Boxes will be placed at both entrances. When
you are shopping for groceries this week, please pick up
one of these items to contribute.

Dearest Faith Friends,
Our church is getting 2016 off to a bit of a shaky beginning. Across the last 8 years that I have on record, we haven’t had this slow of a start, financially speaking. In the coming weeks, the Administration Leadership Team will be meeting to discuss our financial situation alongside other church administration goals. As a family, a body made of many different members, each of us needs to do our part. Service, Compassion, Generosity, Presence, all should be fundamental components of our relation-ship to our Savior and to our Church. I ask that each of us be consistent and be generous when we give, especially in light of our current financial need. Pastor Steven

"Special thanks to the choir for the beautifying anthem to-
day." What a nice thing to say! Choir members are always
pleased when the pastor or people in the congregation enjoys
the choir anthems and thinks they are beautiful.
But is adding beauty the primary objective of
the choir?
Actually, the choir has other functions that are equally, if not
more important. The Faith CP choir assists both Pastor Steven
and the congregation as they proclaim the gospel in worship.
The choir heightens the joy of congregational singing by offer-
ing choral calls to worship, special settings of hymn stanzas
and hymns to celebrate the various church seasons. The choir
anthems amplify the worship experience and can enhance the
focus of the scripture and sermon, especially during Advent
and Lent seasons.
We are blessed to have so many very talented musicians in
our small church. But with along with the talent, comes hard
work and dedication. The choir practices weekly for at least
an hour. They also meet every Sunday morning for a quick
rehearsal prior to church services. Many of our choir mem-
bers attend the 1st service, attend Sunday School, and then
attend the first half of the 2nd services to sing with the choir.
We are very fortunate to have added Cecelia Hagood as our
pianist. She is a wonderful musician and her offertory pieces
are always beautiful and add so much to our worship experi-
ence. Marsha Bradley has recently joined us and leads the
singing of the hymns. Her beautiful voice has really enhanced
congregational singing and our choir anthems.
We are all so very thankful for the hard work
and dedication of all of our choir members. And we extend an invitation to anyone that is interested in
joining the choir, whether it be full time or just for special oc-
casions or services.

KELLY BLEVINS VOCALS/WORSHIP LEADER
Kelly has loved music as long as she can remember. Singing has always been her strongest passion, having sung in choirs
including the Memphis State Gospel Choir. Kelly has volunteered her voice at many functions through work, filled in at churches in Memphis and Olive Branch, sung credited backing vocals, and was Head Music for the Midsouth
Great Banquet.
DANA BLEVINS GUITAR/VOCALS/WORSHIP LEADER
Dana started his first band at 15 and
played many venues throughout Memphis in his youth and early
adulthood. Usually the front-man, he started honing his guitar skills over
the past few years after being asked to be the Music Leader for the Mid-
south Great Banquet. Dana has guested at various churches, sung credited backing vocals, and is an
accredited songwriter.
RODNEY MOSKOVITZ GUITAR
Rodney works at Gibson guitars
downtown. He is a hardworking dad to 3 boys, his oldest son 24 and in the Air Force, middle son 16 and
youngest 11. He enjoys riding mountain bikes and working out with his boys. He enjoys learning new things reading the Bible. He
enjoys playing guitar and is single.
SEAN DOHERTY BASS GUITAR
loves his family, Melissa - his beautiful
bride, Phillip - his 12 yr old boy and Rachel - his 9 yr old daughter (and their
2 cats, Oreo and Roxy). He LOVES playing bass guitar and thanks God every day for blessing him with this ability. He's an IT tech at Methodist
LeBonheur hospital systems. He is also a US Army veteran.

PROFILES, GROUPS AND PAGES:
UNDERSTANDING FAITH CPC ON FACEBOOK
With each passing generation, comes a new technology, and with it comes new lingo. Facebook has not only changed the way
that individuals communicate, but businesses and organizations, creating new possibilities to reach the public audience. To
explain how Faith CPC will be communicating on Facebook, here’s a quick breakdown of the lingo:
PROFILE:
This is what the each individual Facebook user has when they create an account. This is the user’s own personal account that
only they have control over, including who can see that account. To see another user’s account, you request to “add friend”.
GROUP:
Individual users have the option to set up or join groups, which allow multiple users to communicate within that group. These
are moderated by “administrators”, usually the user who created the group. Groups can be “open” meaning any user can join,
or “closed” which you have to “request to join”. Groups are best for small group communication, allowing people to share
interests and updates with one another. In a group, you can view who is in the group, and can click to access their profile
(depending on that user’s privacy settings).
PAGE:
This is intended to be the official and public platform for businesses and organizations on Facebook, accessible to all users.
Rather than “joining”, you “like” a page. Unlike in a group, you cannot see all the people who have liked a page, making it more
private than a group. A page also has additional benefits to organizations, such as including contact information, a map, the
option for advertising, the ability to schedule posts in advance, and more accessibility to the public.
SO WHAT PLATFORMS IS FAITH CPC USING?
If you search “Faith Cumberland Presbyterian Church” on Facebook, you will discover two platforms:
“ Fa i t h C u m b e r l a n d P re s b y t e r i a n C h u rc h ”
The “Group”: this is what we have been using for a long time
to post community information, prayer requests, share stories
and jokes together. This is where we encourage the
congregation to continue communicating with one another as
before.
The “Page”: this is where we will be posting the official Faith
CPC information that will be available to the public, including
sermon and event information. Only a limited number of
administrators will have posting rights. The goal is to create
effective and concise communication, and increase our
visibility to friends, neighbors and the Bartlett area.
We will continue to post official communication in the Group through April to allow time for people to “like” our new page.

Faith CPC Women’s Retreat
Faith Cumberland Presbyterian Church

Are you looking for a day when you can recharge your mental, physi-
cal, and spiritual batteries? Are you ready for fun, fellowship, and
food with a group of fabulous females? Look no further than our
Faith CPC Women's Retreat! Women of all ages (high school up) will
gather to learn about the women's ministries of the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church, participate in prayer stations, enjoy music, eat
a tasty lunch, and create a Chrismon ornament.
The morning will begin with fellowship around coffee, juice, and pas-
tries as we arrive starting no earlier than 9:30 am. After a time of
prayer, introductions, and music, we will move into the main pro-
gram. Our speaker will be Rev. Pam Phillips-Burk, Director of Wom-
en's Ministries for our denomination. She will share with us some of
the important ministry focus areas for Cumberland Presbyterian
women around the world. Rev. Phillips-Burk will then introduce
Prayer Stations such as praying in color, intercessory prayers, and a
prayer labyrinth. Lunch will be catered and will include dessert.

and 10. You can pay the registration fee by cash or check also on
Sunday or drop by the church office.

Sunday April 24 through May 1
In about 3 weeks Faith Church will be hosting Family Promise, a
ministry where congregations provide food, shelter, encouragement
and love to families who are without homes. The main goal of Family
Promise is to help displaced families stay together as a family unit,
working with them to resolve issues relating to their homelessness.
The families will be our guests beginning Sunday, April 24 thru May
1. We can show the love of Christ by "signing-up" to help prepare a
meal, be an evening dinner host, be an overnight host, a Saturday
host, or purchase food items for breakfast/lunch.
"Sign-ups" will begin Sunday, April 3. We need volunteers of all ages
to help serve in this important ministry.
How will YOU serve and be the "hands and feet" of Christ?
Jesus said: "The greatest commandment of all is to love your
neighbor as yourself." We CAN make a difference by being a
neighbor to our families in need and share a little joy and love.
