As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers, but the past weekend’s disastrous stormalmost blew those flowers away. Leesburg’s 21st Annual Flower and Garden Festival on April 16and 17 may have picked a bad weekend for weather, but that didn’t stop the show from goingon. Throughout the weekend the festival saw about 20,000 people.

Although the rain and wind may have kept some patrons away, Saturday’s crowd was still outand about. But, thanks to the blue skies and warmer weather, Sunday proved to turn thingsaround for the festival.

The event featured 11 area landscapers and three local judges voted on this year’s mostimpressive displays.

1st place went to West Winds Nursery, in Sudley Springs. 2nd place went to WildwoodLandscapes in Purcellville. 3rd went to Walker and Clarke in Waterford.

For a list of all vendors who were at this years festival go to flowerandgarden.org.
