Teaching & Assessment

Teaching time is divided between lectures, tutorial classes, seminars and workshops.

These average a total of 10-12 hours per week and, as at all UK universities, much of your time will be spent in independent study.

Head of First Year

• There are four Heads of First Year: Accounting

Economics (including Economics & Management)

Management & HRM (including Management with Marketing)

International Business (including International Business & Economics and International Business & Finance)

• Support the transition to independent learning• Personal tutor• Lecturer for compulsory modules in the first year• Together, oversee and develop the first year

(except for Transport Studies & Geography AAA-AAB)

• Finance, Economics GCSE Maths A• Management, Marketing GCSE Maths B• HRM, International Business GCSE Maths C

No Critical Thinking, General Studies or Extended Project

Personal Statement tips

• Evidence of enthusiasm and aptitude for the subject you wish to study.

• Provide evidence of skills, knowledge and attributes that will enable you both to benefit from and to make a positive contribution to the programme of your choice

• Demonstration of how relevant extracurricular activities and work experience have enhanced your knowledge and skills in your chosen subject

• Display strong literacy skills with the ability to write clearly and construct sentences and paragraphs effectively including spelling, punctuation and grammar.
