3. Installation / wiring
3.1 Electrical supply/choice of LED Driver
umoduleSLEG4fromTridonicarenotprotectedagainstovervoltages,overcurrents,overloadsorshort-circuitcurrents.SafeandreliableoperationcanonlybeguaranteedinconjunctionwithaLEDDriverwhichcomplieswiththerelevantstandards.TheuseofuLEDDriversfromTridonicincombinationwithumoduleSLEG4guaranteesthenecessaryprotectionforsafeandreliableoperation.
IfaLEDDriverotherthanTridonicuconverterisused,itmustprovidethefol-lowingprotection:•Short-circuitprotection•Overloadprotection•Overtemperatureprotection
umoduleSLEG4mustbesuppliedbyaconstantcurrentLEDDriver.OperationwithaconstantvoltageLEDDriverwillleadtoanirreversibledamageofthemodule.WrongpolaritycandamagetheumoduleSLEG4.
umoduleSLEG4arebasicisolatedupto75Vagainstgroundandcanbemounteddirectlyonearthedmetalpartsoftheluminaire.Ifthemax.outputvoltageoftheLEDDriver(alsoagainstearth)isabove75V,anadditionalisolationbetweenLEDmoduleandheatsinkisrequired(forexamplebyisolatedthermalpads)orbyasuitableluminaireconstruction.Atvoltages>60Vanadditionalprotectionagainstdirecttouch(testfinger)tothelightemittingsideofthemodulehastobeguaranteed.Thisistypicallyachievedbymeansofanonremovablelightdistributoroverthemodule.

NoneofthecomponentsoftheumoduleSLEG4(substrate,LED,electroniccomponentsetc.)maybeexposedtotensileorcompressivestresses.
Max.torqueforfixing:0.5Nm.
TheLEDmodulesaremountedwith2screwspermodule.InordernottodamagethemodulesonlyroundedheadscrewsandanadditionalplasticflatwashershouldbeusedforLEDmoduleswithouthousing.

ChemicalsubstancemayharmtheLEDmodule.Chemicalreactionscouldleadtocolourshift,reducedluminousfluxoratotalfailureofthemodulecausedbycorrosionofelectricalconnections.

4.1 Life-time, lumen maintenance and failure rate
ThelightoutputofanLEDModuledecreasesoverthelife-time,thisischaracterizedwiththeLvalue.L70meansthattheLEDmodulewillgive70%ofitsinitialluminousflux.Thisvalueisalwaysrelatedtothenumberofoperationhoursandthereforedefinesthelife-timeofanLEDmodule.
AstheLvalueisastatisticalvalueandthelumenmaintenacemayvaryoverthedeliveredLEDmodules.TheBvaluedefinestheamountofmoduleswhicharebelowthespecificLvalue,e.g.L70B10means10%oftheLEDmodulesarebelow70%oftheinitalluminousflux,respectivly90%willbeabove70%oftheinitialvalue.nadditionthepercentageoffailedmodules(fatalfailure)ischaracterizedbytheCvalue.
