    T h e i n v o l v e m e n t o f c h o l in e rg i c m e c h a n i s m i n t h ep rocess o f fac i l i t a t ion induc ed by FS-s t ress was inves t i -g a t e d s i nc e t h e re h a v e b e e n m a n y r e p o r t s t h a t g i v ee v i d e n c e o f t h e i m p a i r i n g e f fe c ts o f c o g n i t i o n o f s y s te m i -c a l ly a d m i n i s t e r e d a n t i m u s c a r i n i c a g e n ts s u c h a s s c o p o l -a m i n e [1 3 ] a n d m o re o v e r t h e e ss e n ti a l r o l e o fc h o li n e rg i c m e c h a n i s m i n a n u m b e r o f l e a r n i n g / m e m o r yp ra d i grn s h a v e b e e n s u g g e s t e d [2 5 -7 ] . I n t h is e x p e r i-m e n t we fo u n d t h a t F S - s t r e ss i n d u c e d le a rn i n g e n h a n c e -m e n t l a st e d a t l e a st 96 h i n d i c a t i n g t h a t A C h - i n d u c e dchan ges o f exc i tab i l i ty can b e long- las t ing and causes am e c h a n i s m o f c e n t r a l p l a st ic i ty . I t h a s b e e n s u g g e s t e dtha t FS-s t ress may increase the ACh leve l s in the b ra inand h ighe r level s o f AC h w ou ld incre ase synap t ic e f fec-t iveness o f the neura l c i rcu i t con t ro l l ing re ten t ion la ten -c ie s p r e s u m a b l y r e g u l a t e d t h ro u g h m u s c a r i n i c r e c e p t o rs .Th is poss ib i li ty i s supp or ted by sys temic adm in is t ra t io n
