Learner Development: The teacher understands howlearners grow and develop, recognizing patterns of learning anddevelopment vary individually within and across the cognitive,

linguistic, social, emotional, and physical areas, and designs andimplements developmentally appropriate and challenging learning

    experiences.

    Site Based Observation

I was able to participate and assist

with lessons in the content areas of

    language arts and mathematics during

my field experience at Cass Elementary

for my Educational Psychology course at

Madonna University. During theselessons, I was able to engage learners is

    applying methods of inquiry and

standards of evidence and in the

    discipline. Applying methods of inquiry

    allows teachers to create learning

    experiences that make learners gain

mastery of the content being taught.

I was able to observe different

tools of inquiry a teacher can use to help

    engage students in authentic learning

experiences. Some of the inquiry tools

that were used included students creating

    their own questions, obtaining supporting

    evidence to answer questions, explaining

any evidence that had been collected

during an experiment or discovery lesson,

and finally connecting an explanation to

knowledge that had been obtained from

an investigative process. These tools willultimately lead learners to mastery

learning of the content being taught in

    their classroom.

    Reflection

    Being introduced to different tools

of inquiry has benefited me as a future

educator because it showed me the

impact it has on student learning. When

    students construct their own knowledge

using, it will lead to authentic learning

experiences. In my classroom, I will

incorporate these tools to ensure my

    students are constructing their own

knowledge that will leave a lasting impacton their education. I do not want

everyday in my classroom to be the

same, and I do not want to be a teacher

who lectures every day. I want my

students to be active participants in their

Students generating questions for a lesson.

    they can be.

    Through this field experience, I

    now better understand how learning

    occurs-- how learners construct

    knowledge, acquire skills, and develop

discipline thinking processes -- along with

how to use instructional strategies to
