SaraGalbraithstartedworkingattheBellefonteYMCAinMayastheWellnessCoordinator.Hertimeherehasnot been long, but she is optimistic in her ability to enhance the lives of the YMCA’s communitymembers.Currently,sheisacyclinginstructorandintheprocessofbecoming,anNASMCertifiedPersonalTrainer.
SaraGalbraithisarecentgraduatefromLockHavenUniversityofPennsylvania(LHU)withaBachelor’sdegreeinRecreationManagementandminorsinPsychologyandEnvironmentalStudies.WhileatLHU,Saraspentalotoftimerockclimbingandrecreatingintheoutdoors.Shealsotaughtayogaclassforfaculty/staffandstrengthtrainingclassesforrockclimbers.Sarahasadeeppassionforimprovingpeople’soverallhealthandwellbeingthroughrecreation.
In the fall,SarawillbepursuingaMaster’sdegree inSportPsychology, inaddition toworkingat theY.Thisdegreewillhelphergainadeeperunderstandingofherclient’smentalstateastheyexercise.Thedegreealsofocuses onmotivations to exercise/participate in sports. By learning the psychology behindwhat drives herclients, Sarawill beable to administermoreeffectiveworkout regimensandencourageher clients to reachtheirgoalsinawaythatiseffectiveforeachindividual.
AlthoughSarastartedintheoutdoors,workingattheYhasgivenhertheopportunitytoapplyherknowledgetoagymsetting.Ashertimeherehasincreased,shehasseenhowindoorrecreationallowsacommunitytobesocially engagedwhile focusing on theirwellbeing. It is the Y’s ability to enhance all parts of a person thatmakesitsuchagreatplacetowork.
