CONTENTS 1. From the founder’s desk FROM THE FOUNDER’S DESK I recently participated in the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon. It was my first ever such event and it took months of training and commitment for me to get my body in shape to finish it. Through my training I realised how similar the learnings of training for a triathlon was to life. These rules of triathlon are much the same as the rules of life. Some rules you may change – but the essence is there. “Be humble, be persistent, try hard and have a big heart”. One of the most important life lessons that you need to apply to a triathlon as much as your life is to never cheat. A lot of people would do whatever it takes to get ahead but you do not have to be one of them. Another important learning was to understand that there will always be someone who can and will beat you so one needs to realise that the real race in both life and triathlon is between you and yourself. Run the best race you can every time. While the finish line is sweet, exactly how you got there is way more critical and valuable. Enjoy the ride instead of only focusing on the destination which is also true in life. Hills are tough to climb at the time, but offer a great view when you reach the top. Stop and enjoy the view every once in a while during the race. Life is full of hard climbs, but when we reach the top we can sit back and smile. Sometimes one needs help in knowing when to say when. We need a strong person to say, “Stop. Take some time off”. It’s impor- tant to understand the value of rest every once in a while. You can’t keep pushing yourself without enough breaks. Just like in life, there will be times when you fall flat on your face and possibly in front of others. Learn to get back up and dust yourself off. Everyone has done it. Another life lesson a triathlon teaches you is, to learn when you fail. There might be times when you forget to carry fuel on a long run or go too hard on the bike and blow up the run or others when you might not finish. Learn from it and move on. It’s the March edition of ‘Leap It Up’, and we have some exciting activities for everyone. This edition features our Founder and MD, Dev Roy’s experience as he participated in his first Triathlon event. He speaks about the effort and training that went into to getting ready for the event and his learning. The edition includes an activity which will test your knowledge of the sports that are traditionally and famously played in various countries. We also have a section which features activity ideas for kids in their summer vacations. This edition also features our new space called “Principal's Section”, where our principals get candid and share sporting experiences from their childhood. I recently participated in the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon. It was my first ever such event and it took months of training and commitment for me to get my body in shape to finish it. LEAPSTART FUN CORNER1) Plant Trees and Eat: Have you planted a vegetable garden? It's not too late. Teach children about food by having them grow a favorite vegetable or fruit. Gardening is a fantastic pursuit. This summer, help your kids grow something — and let them eat it freshly picked.

7) Make your own pizza.

6) Climb trees together: Of course, only if the kids are big enough, and you are brave enough.

8) Try and learn at least two new sports so that you can show off your skills to your friends when your school reopens.

9) Each of them will make a scrapbook at the end of the summer of all the fun stuff they did and share it with your friends.

5) Teach: Your grandparents to use the internet. And show off your new skill.

4) Go camping: If you have a tent already, set it up in the back yard and you and the children can spend the night outside. Put together a small campfire where everyone can roast marshmallows or make smokes.

3) Painting: They can imaginary paint the side of the house with a clean paintbrush and bucket of water. They can paint a rock and let it dry. They can paint a pretty summer scene. Thousands of ideas can be concocted when it comes to painting.

She liked the sport as it not only rejuvenates physically but also helps in developing relationships among the players. The love for the game drives her to play the sport even today with her colleagues. This sport is helping her to take time off her busy schedule and to develop a bond with her staff.Favourite Athlete: Indian hockey wizard, Dhyanchand, who took Indian hockey to its zenith. In spite of having Adolf Hitler’s appreciation to his credit, he felt he was a “common man”, his zeal and dedication set an example to the youngsters even today.Childhood Memory: Every evening from her childhood, has memories of playing with her siblings and friends which are worth living.
