What is Process Mapping?

• identifying the process, step-by-step • mapping the step-by-step process

– allows a visual of the complete process • visual identifies clues for possible areas of failure in steps

– listing the inputs and outputs with each individual step required to complete the process

• clearly define the start and end points of the process • clearly define each detailed step of the process with sticky

notes • each sticky note is a new step • sticky notes turned sideways (diamond-like) indicate a

decision point in the process with one or more paths to continue mapping
