Harry Miller Corp.‘s low-VOC-con- tent rust preventive deposits a dry film that protects steel surfaces for periods up to six months when exposed to outdoor uncovered conditions. Steelgard 8926-B is a waterborne emulsion of a waxy film rust preven- tive. The film dries in l-2 hours to a brownish color, which is nontacky and does not wash off when exposed to moisture. Easy removal of the film is accomplished with either hot alkaline solutions or solvents. The VOC con- tent makes this a practical alternative to the traditional solvent-based wax films generally applied by immersion or spray.
