LEADING WOMEN IN BUSINESS x HOUSTON SPECIAL ADVERTISING SECTION A fter being a stay-at-home mom for 13 years, Beth Ferester was prompted by an economic downturn to re-enter the workforce to help support her family. But not just any job would do. “I knew I could sell, but I could only sell something people really needed—like a home,” she says. Within two years of launching her real estate career, she was a top-producing agent in her company. When the company sold to a national conglomerate, Ferester noticed a sharp decline in the company’s attention to client relationships. Desiring more for her clients, she opened her own office, Ferester & Company, in 1991. Alongside her family and a small team of agents, Ferester took a sleeves-rolled-up approach to grassroots marketing—like putting out a yearly cookbook—and in seemingly no time, the business blossomed to 55 agents and two offices. ANOTHER NEW BEGINNING Bigger, however, isn’t always better. “My new business had become the exact thing I had run away from in the past. I couldn’t concentrate on the things I really wanted to do, like mentoring younger agents and being an active agent with my own clients,” Ferester says. So, after being approached by several companies, she chose to sell to Coldwell Banker, where she remained as their top producer for 17 years. In 2016, Beth began to yearn for smaller and better, deciding once again to launch her own company. Beth Ferester & Company was launched in July 2016. Taking the five agents she had mentored at Coldwell, her team started with new, innovative marketing ideas and shared a unified vision for improving the community through monthly volunteer events, donations, and involvement in The Woodlands activities. “Even today, with 18 agents, we’re more like family than a business. My agents call me Boss Mom because I’m both their head cheerleader and their biggest support system,” Ferester says. The team is grounded by an old-fashioned approach to personal service that is complemented by high-tech social media marketing and digital communication. The firm also produces the online Woodlands Relocation Guide, an invaluable resource for those relocating to the area. Above all, it’s Ferester’s dedication to “keeping it small” that she believes will foster the strongest legacy moving forward. FUTURE-FOCUSED Though the smaller-firm structure affords Ferester the flexibility to focus more on her own clients, she still limits her listings to ensure each receives the utmost attention. “I only have one assistant because I’d rather have fewer clients and be able to keep my own hands on all of them,” she says. Ferester still managed to produce $62 million in personal sales last year and is on track to be one of Houston’s top 15 Realtors ® for the 16th year in a row. She credits her success to her dedicated team, her four supportive children and nine grandchildren, and her hardworking husband, who serves as the company’s broker. “I love this business, and I plan to keep going as long as I can,” Ferester concludes. “I will actually have to stop breathing for me to give it up!” Choosing Small for Bigger Impact Blending old-fashioned customer service with the newest technologies, top-selling Houston real estate agent Beth Ferester fosters a thriving, tight-knit real estate team. 8522 CREEKSIDE FOREST DRIVE, THE WOODLANDS, TX 77375 x 281-367-4000 x FERESTER.COM
