Leadership and Collaboration:The teacher seeksappropriate
leadership roles and opportunities to takeresponsibility for
student learning, to collaborate with
learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals,and
community members to ensure learner growth, and
to adance the profession!
Enhanced Collaborating Skills
During my Spring 2014 semester
at Madonna University, I was enrolled in
Foundations of Education. Throughout
course, I participated in eight on line
seminars. Each seminar was based on a
topic that was related to education. Theseopportunities allowed
me to share
knowledge, views and experiences. I was
also provided with ample opportunities to
respond and expand on the contributions
that others had made.
One opportunity that I participated
in involved a discussion post involving the
purposes of schools. I was able to pick,
describe, and justify the one of the five I
felt most valid to apply to the education of
children. Out of the five, I chose teaching
workforce readiness. This individual
quality, along with others, should be
taught in our schools. Our students
need to be prepared for their future
careers in the workforce. We need to
teach our students punctuality, how to
dress appropriately, being
responsible, how to have professional
relationships and how to collaborate withothers. Students should
be learning skills
that they will use everyday, not just skill
they need to know for high school
homework assignments, tests, and
exams. We need to prepare our students
for the real world!
Reflection
Through my participation in the
online seminars, I was able to engage in
meaningful learning experiences that
allowed me to sharpen my collaboration
skills. The knowledge and experiences
that were shared provided me with many
different ideas and strategies that can be
used in classrooms. This experience
allowed me to gain problem solving skills
and cooperative learning skills that will
ultimately help me be able to collaborate
with families, colleagues, and other
Discussion board post focusing on the roles of schools.
