LE ROY CHRISTIAN CHURCH THE CORNERSTONE NEWSLETTER DATE: MARCH 11, 2015 ISSUE 5 - DIGITAL EDITION A Wonderful Journey What a wonderful journey God has blessed us on through the Old Testament via The Story. It has been great to visit the old stories and the golden texts of the Bible. Those truths are timeless and hopefully we’re practicing them in our daily lives. For our guests and newer families it is an opportunity to maybe hear about the great men and women of the Bible for the very first time. To learn that God has had a plan since before the creation of the world. And that this Creator God is mindful of all of us and has us on His radar! I don’t think we could have asked for a more timely series at this juncture in the history of our Church. God has blessed us with decisions and lots of other blessings as well. Now we head into the New Testament. It will be Christmas in March with the remnants of a white Christmas melting in the background. But what I really hope is that our hearts are melted. That we re-discover the amazing love that God the father has for us, His children. That we will focus on the life and teachings of His son. And that those things will revive us, give us a renewed hope and renewed vigor to be His mouthpieces here locally, to shine the light for Him. That’s what I hope… - Jeff Senior Minister

A Wonderful Journey

What a wonderful journey God has blessed us on through the Old Testament via The Story.

YM UPDATE

Let’s Get Rolling

As the weather finally warms up, we’re quickly getting active in our

Spring calendar. SuperStart, Believe, and Spring Retreat are all happen-

ing in the next month. Fundraiser season is upon us. Easter is right

around the corner as well. LCC will be hosting much of the community over

the next several weeks and putting in a lot of road miles for retreats.

Will you help us roll out the red carpet for the rest of Le Roy? Will you

pray for our students as they prepare for what God has in store for them

at these retreats? The stifling cold has passed. It’s time to roll into

Spring!

The team for the 2015 mission trip has been formed. Alley Roberson,

Sam and Jesse Corso and myself will head to El Paso, TX and then to Jua-

rez, MX to work with Casas por Cristo on June 14-19. Like in other years,

we’ll be building a house for a family without a home as a model for God’s

gift of grace. Unlike before, however, we’ll be partnering with individuals

from all over the country to form a diverse team of servants. The “Team

Casas” build format allows smaller groups to have a chance to do this work.

We plan to fly out on Sunday June 14. Each team member will be responsi-

ble for raising $1000 ($500 for the build, $450ish for flight, $50 food/

etc.). Please consider how you can help this group be a blessing to a family

in Mexico. Contact me directly for more information.

The Youth Group will be holding their annual Pork Chop Sale at the IGA

on Saturday, April 4 from 10-2. If you have been longing for grilled meat

over the cold winter months, we’ve got the cure for your ills. Go on up and

support a good cause.

One final thing for now, we need candy for this year's Easter Egg Hunt

scheduled for April 4. We plan to fill 7000 eggs and anticipate welcoming

close to 300 kids and parents in hopes that they will join us for our Easter

Sunday services the next day. Please be in prayer for all of these events

and be sure to take an opportunity to take ownership in the work that this

church is doing in building up our young people.

Blessings,

Joe - Associate/Youth Minister

EASTER EGG HUNT Saturday, April 4

The Easter Egg Hunt, is less than four weeks away and we still need candy —enough candy to fill 7,000 eggs ! Candy should be individually wrapped and small enough to fit

inside a plastic Easter egg. (We also need eggs!) Donations may be placed in the tote in the foyer.

This year for the Easter Egg Hunt we are offering t-shirts for volun-teers to wear so visitors can easily pick them out in the crowd. They are $10 each (XXL and larger are $12). Please let Joe or Laura know by March 25 if you want one.

LITTLE GALILEE CHALLENGE Little Galilee is once again challenging our congregation to collect 53 #10 cans of apple

sauce, and 24 #10 cans of sliced peaches for camps this summer. (#10 cans are 100+ oz.) To make it more convenient for you, we will also accept cash to purchase the fruit. The

apple sauce is approximately $5 per can, and the peaches are around $6 per can. Last year LCC rose to the challenge and we collected almost 100 cans of food for LGCA.

Donation Drop is right inside the Fellowship Hall doors.

THANK YOU NOTES!

We don’t even know where to begin to thank everyone for helping to make the Area Men’s Fellowship such a success. So, if we overlook anyone, please accept this as our catch-all to thank everyone for their efforts and energy expended. Thanks to Phyllis for running point on the whole event. She produced and sent out the flyers and handled phone calls, etc. She and Kay coordinated the kitchen crew, the meal, the collection of desserts, etc. Thanks to our kitchen crew who was not only top notch, but did so in a friendly manner with smiles on their faces—and really made these men feel welcome! Thanks to everyone who cooked or baked something for the event. We have heard nothing but raving compliments from the men! A special thanks to Denise Noe, Judy Johnson, Lisa Lunn (who was pinch-hitting for a sick Beth Quaid and Mary Lou Munster for the specials they sang—talk about inspirational—they were off the charts! Props also to Scott Sarver and Mike Hillard for their work on the power point and sound board. All in all, it was a great night! It is wonderful to see our Church working together and showing our hospi-tality to Central Illinois. Our deepest and most sincere thanks for all the time and acts of kindness displayed Tuesday night here at LCC. May God bless the rest of your week! The Staff & Leaders Thanks so much to Michelle Perry, Teri Raymond and Kathy Schoenwetter for their quick response and to all the guys who assisted them when I fell Sunday morning. I have a slight concussion and some road rash on the back of my head. Otherwise, pretty much back to normal. Again, thanks to all who helped in any way. God bless you all. Earl Kaufman My sincerest thanks to all of the cooks and organizers of the meals that were delivered to me over the past two weeks while I recovered from surgery. I’m so blessed to have such a loving, thoughtful, and giving Church family here at LCC! God Bless each and every one of you. Joey Wilson
