Everything was a most memorable experience. The entire experience was a blast. We were two couples (family) who have sailed together before so we new going in we would probably enjoy the trip. If you are into the French culture and history, this is a very affordable way to see an interesting area. The fact that the Canal du Midi was built by hand when it was, is really outstanding. You can do a one-way cruise to/from our Canal du Midi bases at Port Cassak res and Homps. Short breaks and longer cruises are available from all our bases in the Camargue.

Eat heavenly oysters in Bouzigues where the oyster farming industry k rst began and visit Agde, one of the oldest towns in France with a rich trading and maritime history.

Summer nautical jousting tournaments are fun to watch in Cap dAgde nearby. Pretty k shing villages of Mze, Frontignan, le Grau du Roi and Bouzigues provide excellent mooring places too. Finally, the wetlands, tangs (lakes), salt plains and marshes of the Camargue are home to many rare species of birds and wildlife and are a delight for nature lovers to explore.

Cruise from our three bases in the Camargue, or from selected bases on the Canal du Midi and combine the best of both worlds.

Due to the sometimes strong river currents, we do not recommend this region if this is your k rst boating holiday. Because the River Lot can occasionally l ood, it may be necessary to transfer you to another suitable base. Access to shore power facilities on the River Lot is severely restricted. There are no lock keepers on the River Lot, but the manual locks are straightforward to operate. Locks are open on Public Holidays in this region. The Charente runs a regular course and is easy to navigate. Swimming in the Charente is possible - please check with the base team for the best locations for swimming. There are few locks, which are easy to operate, but no lock keepers. Locks are open on Bank Holidays. From St. Savinien to Rochefort the river becomes tidal affected by Atlantic tides, strong currents and fast changes in river levels. The current can run as fast as 4 knots and the difference between high and low tide can be as much as m. Therefore only those with some previous boating and/or sailing experience should set out to visit Rochefort by boat. Alternatively, you can easily moor at St. Savinien and take the train to Rochefort.

    Venice

Venice & the Venetian Islands The enchanting city of Venice, its surrounding islands, classic Italian countryside and beaches are yours to discover and enjoy from the superb vantage position of your own sundeck. For both its breathtaking views and the fantastic cruising experience it offers, the Venetian Lagoon is not surprisingly one of our most popular cruising destinations.

Venice, in the heart of the Venetian lagoon, is arguably the worlds most beautiful water city and a delight to explore. Its many surrounding islands - Murano, Burano, Torcello - provide glimpses into Venetian culture, art and history and are also not to be missed.

From lace-making to glass-blowing, pizza throwing to kshing, Venice is a melting pot of arts, crafts, skills and traditional lifestyles which are a delight to discover.

Friuli & the Northern Venetian LagoonExplore the northern Venetian Lagoon towards Trieste and discover the old traditions, quieter lifestyle and unspoiled landscapes of the Friuli region.

Enjoy the regions chic seaside resorts, sandy beaches, beautiful kshing harbours, excellent restaurants, friendly Osteria (caf-bars), wonderful architecture and beautiful, un-crowded waterways all from the wonderful vantage of your sundeck.

Best of all, the seaside canals and gentle rivers are teeming with wildlife and birdlife, making this an exceptionally relaxing cruise in delightful surroundings.

Well - "short" - sort of. 3 weeks aboard our LeBoat cruiser for the 17th trip (out of 23 years). My darling wife and I (just the 2 of us) have cruised nearly every canal in France, Holland, Belgium and England - and the Venice trip was one of the most memorable. As listed below, the surprises that awaited us along the Venice route were amazing. Second only to the food. We each gained a couple of inches around the middle - so be as careful with the eating as much as the maneuvering of the boat along the spacious lagoon and nearby rivers.

Venice & FriuliEffortlessly romantic and a delight to discover

Recreating your own James Bond scenes, cruise past the historic Byzantine architecture of St. Marks Basilica and the Palazzo Ducale for historic sightseeing.

A cruise along the Riviera del Brenta takes you past the impressive Venetian summer villas of the Italian gentry beautiful Villa Foscari and Villa Pisani are just two that are open to the public. Cruise through beautiful Mira, Dolo and Str towards Padova, one of Italys k nest historical cities with busy market squares and rich art treasures.

The Adriatic beach resorts of Jesolo, Lido, Grado, Caorle, Lignano and Bibione provide a perfect escape for sunbathing, swimming and ice-creams as you cruise along the peaceful Litoranea Veneta (seaside canals) to nearby ancient towns and k shing villages where you can glimpse a more traditional Italian lifestyle. Dine at tiny k shing harbour restaurants and enjoy a glass of chilled Prosecco in the sunshine!
