The first speech was by Allan Rimmer in the guise of the bride's father, with much boasting and toasting. Then Maggie Barlow as the mother of the groom, proved to be the mother-in-law from hell - a clinging vine with a son already twice jilted at the altar by fiancées making a last minute escape. Finally new member Sarah Waters spoke as an old friend of the groom - one with a history better not shared with his mother or his new bride. This set up a framework for other members and guests to improvise around the theme. Eileen Fox choreographed this, allocating roles at random and great contributions came from other wedding guests, especially those who had travelled through the fog from Market Harborough Speakers Club. SPORTS MASSAGEMy clinic has been running now for 10months and I still see clients whoexpect to have a really painful time!!!!Not true – if the area that needs

attention is warmed up fully during theinitial phase of treatment, which I do,then the muscles can be worked deeplywithout causing pain. The main ailments and complaints

I’ve seen and treated successfully in thelast 10 months have been:• Lower back pain• Upper back pain• Shoulder and neck pain• Sciatica• Muscular tension due to posture or

working positions• Post event legs – due to either

heavy training sessions in preparation for a marathon or a triathlon are the usual reasons for needing to lighten the legs and improve circulation and reduce the level of toxins in the muscles• Leg cramps and twitchy legs

affecting rest and recuperation• Knee and hip discomfort caused by

tight IT bands or tight musculature• Muscle spasmsMany people have been through the

doors of my clinic and for those whohave had long standing or chronic painwhich is affecting every aspect of theirday to day activities – sports massagecan feel like a little miracle and leaveyou feeling your old self again, which iswhy I love my job!!!So to everyone who has been to my

clinic and kindly recommended me tofriends and families I wish you all a veryMerry Christmas & a pain free New Year.

BONES &GROANS

Frozen ShoulderFrozen shoulder is also known as ‘Adhesivecapsulitis’ referring to the capsule (fibrous bag) thatsurrounds the joint.Nobody truly understands what causes a frozenshoulder but it affects more women than men, usually between the ages of 40 and 60 and morecommonly the non-dominant arm. Between 6-17%patients then go onto develop problems in theopposite shoulder. The first phase of the condition is acutely painfulfrequently disturbing sleep; as time progresses it isthe restriction of movement that becomes moreproblematic. The most common movements to belimited involve rotation at the shoulder eg reachingyour hand up your back to undo your bra or dryyourself or reaching behind your head to do yourhair.Treatment from a Chartered Physiotherapist canhelp-in the early stages to reduce the pain and in thelater stages to maintain and restore mobility.Acupuncture with needles or laser can be beneficialas can hands-on techniques to stretch and mobilisethe tightened capsule. Special exercises eg using apulley can be taught to progress movement betweentreatment sessions.Frozen shoulders are a frustrating condition to havebecause they can last for 2 years. There is no ‘quickfix’ as they have to run their course butphysiotherapy can help along the way. Jo has been awarded the “Certificate of Excellence”from Three Best Rated after their “checking ofextensive customer reviews, ratings, satisfaction, trust, cost and general excellence. Your commitmentto these values and your consistent high quality ishereby acknowledged and certified”.To see a Chartered Physiotherapist privately you donot need to be referred by your doctor. For more information or to arrange physiotherapytreatment contact:JO TAIT Grad Dip Phys MCSP Registered with the

RECOVERING YOUR COMPUTERWe are still seeing customers losing outon an important bit of ‘insurance’ fortheir computer, by not having a backupcopy of the Windows it was supplied with– and it could cost time and money.

Not too long ago when you bought a newcomputer, it came with ‘Recovery discs’which contained a copy of the Windowssetup that was supplied with the computer. If something bad happens, such as areplaced hard drive, they are used toreinstall Windows, wiping the hard driveclean and putting the computer back to thestate that it was in when you first bought it.You will have lost your photos, etc. but youwould have a usable computer.

In recent years, computer manufacturershave tended not to supply these Recoverydiscs and instead have placed a copy(called an ‘image’) on a part of the harddrive, which is fine unless somethinghappens to that hard drive. If somethingdoes happen, you have no way of repairingyour computer without paying for themanufacturer to send you Recovery discsand waiting for them to arrive, sometimestaking weeks.

Luckily, manufacturers put a program onnew computers that allows you to create aRecovery disc (or ‘image’ on a USB flashdrive or external hard drive) automatically.By creating this Recovery disc/image, youare giving yourself an extra chance ofrepairing your computer without more costand delays. We recommend that you findthe program on your computer and createa Recovery disc/image as soon as you can.

Motoring Matters!

TYRESCorrect tyre care and maintenance is critical foryour safety, no matter what type of vehicle you aredriving. Follow these basic tips to help prolongthe life of your tyres, reduce your fuel bills andCO2 emissions and ensure your vehicle canbrake, accelerate and corner properly. Why not use this simple checklist:• Air pressure – under or over inflated tyres can have a detrimental effect upon the life of your tyre along with an increase in fuel consumption and a decrease in the vehicle to accelerate, brake and corner correctly.•Condition – the integrity and condition of your tyres are paramount. Turn your steering on to full lock to enable you to check the sidewalls and tread of your tyres for cuts and foreign objects.• Tread depth – the legal limit for most vehicles is 1.6mm over the centre 3/4 of your tread pattern (see picture above). Most tyres will also have a raised rubber band running through your tread pattern. When the tyre starts wearing closer to the band, it’s time to start thinking about replacing your tyres.Remember: any uneven tread wear may be a sign ofincorrect tyre pressures, a fault with the integrity ofthe tyre or a potential issue with your steering orsuspension.

Leicester Charity Link, is raising awareness and funds tohelp those most at need and most vulnerable this winter. Donations of the cost of a basket of groceriesor a month’s heating cost can help local people survive this winter. Somepeople give their Winter Fuel Allowance to help another older person more inneed. Copies of our guide to keeping well and warm in winter are available from

our Information & Advice helpline on 0116 299 2278 weekdays between 11amand 4pm. You can donate at www.llrcommunityfoundation.org.uk/make-a-donation.

Ullesthorpe W.I. EventsCelebrations of the Centenary of the foundation of the first WI in theUK are still ongoing. Some members were part of a 300 strongcongregation who gathered for a celebration of the ten decades inLeicester Cathedral. After a rousing rendition of ‘Jerusalem’, a message from the Queen to

the Leicester and Rutland Federation was read. The afternoon was amiscellany of songs, dance, nostalgia and humour rounded off byRosemary Heyes entertaining all by her speech. Following the NationalAnthem, tea and delicious cakes were served by the WI Home EconomicsCommittee. Whilst in the Cathedral, many took the opportunity to visitKing Richard the III’s tomb and admire the embroidered pall covering ondisplay.Fifteen members attended a CenTEAnary Party in Broughton Astley

Village Hall again organised by HE Committee. The full afternoon tea wasenjoyed by all as was the talk on the early history of the WI and its originsin Canada. The October Meeting saw Kate Newhaven give a fascinating illustrated

talk on “The World of Assistance Dogs” on behalf of the charity CanineFriends whose motto is “Amazing dogs – Transforming Lives”. Katebrought her ‘partner’ Cheeko (a beautiful black labrador) who sleptthrough most of the talk, but was ready to show his skills in telephonedelivering, retrieving dropped items and the mail, reaching tins whenshopping and removing gloves. These dogs are trained mainly for wheelchair users and puppy parents

look after the pups from 6 weeks till 14 weeks, training and socialisingthrough treats and praise then takes place till 15 months followed byadvanced training according to the needs of the future partner. At present, there are 300 active partnerships and since the

organisation began in 1990 there have been 530 partnerships. The needfor fund-raising is paramount as £10,000 is needed for each dog to reachits working status which covers breeding, training, inoculations, harnessand other incidentals. This talk is recommended to other meeting groupsand to anyone who wishes to actively fund raise. Future activities include a visit to the Ballet in Birmingham and a

Pantomime. Enquiries may be made on 01455 202499.

Lutterworth Townswomens’ GuildAt the November meeting Dorothy Kenmore gave anentertaining talk reflecting on the years working in the NHSthrough the 1960's, 70's and 80's. First trained as a nurse Dorothy soon realized that she didn't

really care for blood, vomit and bedpans and became a school nurseuntil she became bored with nits and verrucas so trained in familyplanning. This role and her husband’s work took her to work inremote areas of South Africa, then returning to work in poor ethnicareas of the UK. Dorothy encountered many problems caused through the

language barrier and learnt several phrases some that didn'ttranslate across very well but was always made very welcome oftenwith food. The most amusing story was about Mr Ali's washingline, but to find out what was on it you would have to listen toDorothy's talk! New members are most welcome, for details take a look at our

Swimfest Makes Another SplashAt the Lutterworth Sports Centre on Saturday November 14thseventeen teams entered the twelfth annual Swimfest organisedby the Rotary Club of Lutterworth Wycliffe.Three hours of noisy fun raised a hoped for £3,000 for local

school projects and good causes. Nigel Bones, President of theRotary Club, skippered a team swimming on behalf of the newlyformed Sharing and Caring Group which is a support network fordementia sufferers and their carers. On completion of his one hour swim Nigel said, “I’m absolutely

exhausted but it’s been tremendous fun. Hopefully we will raise inexcess of £600 by our efforts, yet none of this would have beenpossible without the skill of the Serco staff. They used their skillsto circumvent a major fault with the floor of the pool and, onbehalf of all the teams involved, I thank them sincerely for theirefforts”.There were also some stand out swimming performances.

Amongst the school teams Gilmorton Chandler Primary excelledwith an amazing 121 lengths of the pool. This was bettered onlyby an impressive 134 lengths by the ‘Tudors’ who were allmembers of the 1485 Tri-Athlon Club.

Digital Radio NewsThe broadcasting regulator Ofcom hasreleased their stat-filled annual reporton digital radio. Nottinghamshire cometops for people listening via digitalinstead of analogue services, havingreached the ‘tipping point’ of 50%. The Government is keen for listeners

to reap the benefits by migrating fromFM / AM of their own accord, so as notto impose a digital switchover too soon.Norway however, will be the firstcountry in the world to pull the plug onall FM transmitters in just two yearstime. The main criteria that Ofcom

monitors for progress towards radioswitchover are:Content: DAB offers more choice and

diversity of stations than the crowdedFM band can deliver, with over 40available in this area. Spring 2016 seesthe launch of a 2nd national commercialnetwork, with some operators using thenew ‘DAB+’ format. Coverage: The national BBC network

on DAB, carrying popular stations suchas Radio 4Extra, & 6Music, covers 95%of households (similar to the FMnetwork). There is an ongoingprogramme to improve local radiocoverage (currently around 77%), butthe Leicestershire stations still struggleto reach the Lutterworth area!Cars: Around three quarters of new

cars now have DAB tuners, but that stillleaves millions of vehicles without.Peter Wells, see advert below.

Lutterworth ChristmasLights Switch On 2015As the day began, the forecast was lookingrather glum and as predicted, the rain camedown in buckets. However, this didn’t appearto dampen the spirits of the locals who stillcame out in their hundreds and the towncentre was transformed into a magical winterwonderland. The evening began with Santa riding through

the town centre on his sleigh with an umbrellaand his own private escort, Olaf! In his grotto,Santa attracted a huge crowd of children, alleager to tell him what they would like forChristmas. Just next door to the grotto,Lutterworth Town Band entertained passers byin the Memorial Gardens. The funfair was again a major attraction

whilst Loughborough Campus Radio kicked offthe on stage entertainment. They warmed upthe crowds and introduced the school choirs, local bands and recording artists, who eachsang their favourite Christmas songs to thedelight of the huge audience. Many of theproud parents of the children performing could

not take the smile off their faces before three ofour local retailers basked in the glory ofwinning the Best Illuminated (Sheila’s CraftCorner), Best Dressed (All Wrapped Up) andMost Innovative (Valerie’s Cake Boutique)shop window competitions – their hamperskindly donated by Waitrose. The Lutterworth Town Mayor and his

Consort were on stage to switch on theChristmas lights, which was followed by aspectacular fireworks display, greeted withoooohs and ahhhhs from the vast crowdgathered in the Town Hall square.Throughout the evening hot mulled wine

was enjoyed in Lutterworth Christmas mugswhilst there was also an opportunity to do aspot of late night Christmas shopping in theshops that had stayed open in the town and theChristmas Market, new for this year’s event.Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service broughtalong their fire engine, much to the delight ofthe children who were allowed to have a sit inthe driver’s seat.Unfortunately, all good things must come to

an end and so that was it for another year. Thelights are shining and everyone went home

happy, with us all looking forward to the nextbig event, Christmas Day!Lutterworth Town Council would like to

thank all the local businesses who sponsoredthe event and donated their time and moneyto ensure the evening was a great success. A special thanks also to the many volunteer

Q: I’m struggling witharound £18,000 worth ofdebt and I wonderedwhether I’d be eligible for aDebt Relief Order. I knowthe limit used to be£15,000 but I heard that it was increasingsoon. Is that right?A: A Debt Relief Order can be a way to helppeople out of unmanageable debt. From 1stOctober the debt limit for a DRO increased to£20,000 so you might now be eligible. You could qualify for a DRO if you don’t

own your home, have up to £1,000 worth ofassets, a car worth no more than £1,000 and

have £50 or less left each month once you’vepaid your essentials. Debts such as magistrate’s court fines,

student loans and child support maintenancearen’t covered by a DRO but credit card debt, overdrafts, loans and rent arrears are, so checkfirst whether you’re eligible. The DRO lasts a year and during that time

you don’t have to make any payments towardsmost debts included in your DRO. Yourcreditors can’t force you to pay off the debtseither. At the end of the DRO period your debtswill be written off but you’ll still be responsiblefor paying off any debts that weren’t includedin the DRO.

It’s also important to consider that while aDRO can help you deal with your debt, it mayaffect your credit rating and if during the 12month period you borrow more than £500 youhave to tell the creditor about your DRO.

Wycliffe Lutterworth U3AMonthly November Meeting ‘The Battle of the Beams’ Speaker: Bob TitteringtonBob’s talk was very interesting to everyone. With diagrams, a video clip andphotographs, he explained the progress ofthe RAF in the battle to confound theaccuracy of the German bombers, who wereable to pinpoint targets under cover ofdarkness. The vibrating perspex dome in the fuselage

of the plane was the cramped home of the

navigator, who used his sextant to star sight inorder to work out the position of the plane inflight. Accuracy was almost impossible giventhe shuddering flight, as an error of just onedegree caused the target to be missed by atleast one mile. The Luftwaffe was fitted with Knickebein

systems which made their bombing accuracyfar superior to Britain’s. Having determinedfrom a shot down plane that these werehidden within the Lorenz blind landingsystem, the RAF were able to discover thefrequency of the transmitters and buildreceivers on top of towers.

An interfering signal was generated whichneutralised the system of dots and dashes. This confused the German pilots who beganto lose confidence in their system. The XGerate, single beam system was followed bythe Y Gerate system which was four timesmore accurate. From a high tower atAlexandra Palace, a pulse was transmittedback to the bombers at a different frequency, which caused the pilots, who became totallyconfused, to veer off course. By February1941, the British had neutralised all theGerman systems, which then turned theirbombing raids towards Russia.

SANTA FUN RUNWow weren’t we lucky with the weather – it was at least dry for ‘therun’ even if the wind was higher than we would have liked. As to be expected considering a very overcast day we had 775 Santas

running one of two courses against 1,006 last year in perfect weather. In the 7 years

Lutterworth Rotaryhas been runningthe event we havenever had tocancel. This year, as we

do each year, wemajor on newcharities –

Barnardo’s Young Carers (Leics.) - Canine Partnership - Share andCare Group along with Air Ambulance - The Mayor’s Appeal and arange of Rotary Charities who benefit from the Annual Run.As always our thanks to our

sponsors – Hinckley and RugbyBuilding Society, BroughtonVeterinary Group, Coates(Warehousing, Distribution andProperty), Harrison MurrayEstate Agents, Broomfield’sSolicitors, Omega Kitchens,Fortnams Chemist, SpecSavers, Waitrose, The Greyhound CoachingInn, Max Electrical, Barkers Pet Supplies, Pinnacle Taxis, WilliamDavis Homes and Reecreate who produced our website. In addition the Lutterworth Town Band provided music during the

afternoon with the PA system being supplied by Radio Lutterworth.Lutterworth Pathway Community Church kindlydistributed drinks and the mince pies (providedby Waitrose) after the race.Last but not least the Lutterworth College and

The Frank Whittle Studio School without whosegrounds we could not run an event such as this. Our Marshals are our unsung heroes braving

the weather, ensuring that each road crossing was safe for the Santas, the cars parked suitably and many more jobs which made for asuccessful day.Thank you all.

Creative Art Group Supporting RNIBThe Creative Art Group’s Exhibition 2015 held on 14th &15th November started with a very wetand windy day. Although the numbers of visitors were down on previous years it was still asuccessful one with a very friendly atmosphere and a good deal of praise for the excellent standardof work on show. 86 paintings were exhibited; 12 paintings and 3 ceramic china painted plates were sold along with

many original greetings cards painted by some of the members. The raffle, cards and donations help to raise £220 for this year’s chosen charity RNIB.The large Christmas Hamper was won by Diana Osborne, the 2nd prize, a bottle of Whisky won by

‘Ron’ and 3rd prize a painting won by Judy Fitzhugh. Other lucky winners were S. Heath, J Cooper andM Wood. The favourite painting in the show voted by visitors was David Cooper’s ‘Old Cornish Harbour’.Members wish to thank all those who supported the event and gave generously to the charity, the

Royal National Institute for the Blind. Lynn Wood (founder member)

Lutterworth Wine CircleAt the November meeting we were lucky enoughin having a ‘local expert’ in name, Lee Jones whoresides in Lutterworth.

His topic was ‘An Alternative Christmas’ and hispresentations were different from what one wouldnormally associate with festive drinking.

The first white ‘2014 Lucien La Stelle’, aVermentino from Sardinia. A straw blond withbags of citrus but delicate to taste with a lingeringfinish.

The next white from Rueda a 100% Verdejo‘2014 San Antolin’, another white with high notesand fine balance of fruit with a long finish.

Our last white from the house of ‘Cvne’, abarrel aged Viura, typical of white Riojas, not toeveryone’s liking but a fine example of the lesserknown wine of Rioja.

We move now to the home of Malbec, from

Cahors in France ‘2012 Malbec du Clos’. True tothe Malbec style, deep black fruit with a hint ofvanilla from its 18 months in barrel.

Travelling across Europe to Tuscany for aChianti, a 2012 ‘Cecchi Sagrato Reserva’. Madein the modern methods this wine was young butdelivered rich flavours with soft tannins, withkeeping this wine reward the drinker. This is a ina wine of expectation.

Sadly our last wine was an Old Vine Garnacha,a 2013 ‘The Cubist’ from the Calatayud region inSpain. This had huge plummy black fruit, leavingsoft tannins and a long fruity rounded finish. Ifyou haven’t tried Old Vines Garnacha-TRY IT!You’re missing out. Our thanks to Lee for a veryenjoyable evening.

We still have room for new members, give mea ring for a programme and a chat, we are not‘Wine Snobs’ but people with a common interest.

History of the Christmas TreeWhy do we celebrate Christmas usinga Christmas tree?

It began many years ago in NorthernEurope. An English Monk namedBoniface was a missionary to Germanyand he wanted to give the people asymbol of life to celebrate Christ’sBirthday.

As Christmas falls in the middle ofwinter, many trees have lost all theirleaves and so only an evergreen is trulyalive at that time of the year.

Boniface chose a firtree and decorated it inhomage to Christ andthe tradition began.

Throughout the next nine centuries the Christmas tree was used in Christian homes andc e l e b r a t i o n sthroughout Germanyand other parts ofNorthern Europe.

When you have areal Christmas tree inyour home you arecontinuing over 1200years of traditionalChristian celebration!

MerryChristmas and a Happy New Year toall our Volunteers & Customers!

Get Jolly for LOROS thisDecember by Wearing YourFestive Jumpers for The HospiceLOROS is encouraging everyone to take part inJolly Jumper Day this December and raise vitalfunds for the Hospice over the Festive season. From businesses to schools, organisations and

universities, the Groby Road charity is invitingeveryone to dig out their favourite Christmasjumpers for LOROS this month.

The campaign is simple: all LOROS is askingis for you to pick any day in December to be your‘Jolly Jumper Day’, then encourage all of yourpeers and colleagues to wear their Festive knitsand donate £1 to the Hospice.LOROS Fundraising Co-ordinator Magdalena

Korytkowska said, “Get in the Festive spiritwhile raising money for charity this Christmasby taking part in our annual Jolly Jumper Day.Whether it’s a simple Santa jumper you will bewearing or a glittery knit complete with fairylights and tinsel – we want to see everyone

donning their Christmas jumpers for LOROSthis December”.And there is no need to stop there – why not

organise a party at home or hit the town withfriends, all dressed in your festive best forLOROS.Magda added, “Campaigns like these are a

great example of how easy it is to give somethingback”.For more information or to receive your free

fundraising pack, visit: loros.co.uk/jolly or call0116 231 8431.

LOROS Needs VolunteersLOROS Hospice opened their doors in November in hope ofencouraging more people to give up their time and join theirvolunteering team. Dozens of people took advantage of the day as theyvisited the Groby Road Hospice and explored the different ways in whichthey could get involved. From volunteering as part of the administration team, with the

complementary therapy staff or day therapy, there really was a jobshowcased for everyone.LOROS Home Visiting Manager Andrew Lowden said, “The day was a

great success. We just wanted to get as many people through our doors sothey could see what a difference they could make by giving up some oftheir spare time to help out at LOROS. There are so many great

opportunities to volunteer here, whether that is in the community inlotteries, home visiting, in one of our shops or at our fundraising events.Hopefully we helped people see there really is something for everyone”.Volunteers play such a huge part in enabling LOROS to continue caring

and supporting terminally ill adults, with more than 1,000 people alreadygiving up their time for LOROS each year.Community Fundraiser Debbie Dickman said, “It was really great to

see some of our regular supporters who have raised money for us wantingto get involved and volunteer. I’m already looking forward to the nextvolunteer open day at LOROS, it gave us the time and space to really talkto people and showcase the opportunities available”.If you are interested in volunteering, call the Hospice for more

information on 0116 231 3771, e-mail: [email protected] or visit:loros.co.uk/volunteering

LOROS’ Brand New Campaign, ‘Crimbogram’ is setto be fun for the whole family this ChristmasThis December LOROS Hospice is launching a brand new and exciting funfor all the family campaign called ‘Crimbogram’.Crimbogram, which will run throughout the month and into the New Year

is predominantly a social media campaign asking people to recreate an oldphoto and donate money to the Hospice. It really is as simple as digging out an amusing old photo, then recreating

it as best you can and posting it on your social media pages, before donating£3 to LOROS by texting ‘CRIM30 £3’ to 70070. You then nominate three ofyour friends to do the same.

LOROS Fundraising Co-ordinator Dave Nicklin said, “This is a really funcampaign that all the family, as well as friends, can get involved with. It’s agreat excuse to reminisce over good times and have a laugh with the peopleyou love, while raising money for your local Hospice. Every £3 raised couldcontribute to paying for a patient’s meals this Christmas time”.While participants can upload their photos to Facebook, those who do not

use the social media channel could also use the Crimbogram JustGiving page:campaign.justgiving.com/charity/loros/crimbogramDave added, “We’ve seen other charity campaigns really boom thanks to

social media including the Ice Bucket Challenge. We hope Crimbogram growsto be like this, with everyone and anyone getting involved”.For more information on Crimbogram visit: loros.co.uk/support-us or call

Christmas House Plant CareCyclamen, Amaryllis bulbs and Poinsettias are three of the mostpopular gifts given at Christmas. Here are a few tips to get the bestfrom them and keep them going into next year.Cyclamen are tender plants originally native to the south-east

Mediterannean regions and North Africa but it does not mean that theylike lots of heat. Cyclamens prefer a coolish room where temperaturesdo not rise above 21°C during the day. They also like a lot of light butprefer not to be placed on a windowsill particularly at this time of year

as they can get coldwhen the curtains aredrawn and scorchedwhen the sun shines.Cyclamens are bestwatered from thebottom. Do not allowthe plant to stand inwater for too longbecause if the corm isallowed to get too wet,it can rot.

It is also useful to provide a liquid feed every two weeks. When theleaves start to go yellow move the plant to a cool shady place to rest andwater occasionally so the compost doesn’t dry out. Then in midSeptember bring back to a bright and warmer room, repot if necessaryand treat as before and hopefully it will re-flower.

Amaryllis bulbs are often given as ‘grow-your-own’ packs atChristmas. Follow the instructions on the packetand plant up your bulb in the growing medium. They only need watering when the growingmedium dries out and do not need feeding as itshould provide enough nutrient to see the bulb toflowering. The stems can grow tall so you willneed to provide a cane to support them. They alsohave a tendency to grow towards the light so it isbest to rotate them every other day or so to try andkeep them straight. Once they have flowered cut the stem back by thebulb and allow the foilage to grow. They will then need a liquid feedevery couple of weeks. In the summer when the leaves start to fade, place it somewhere cool and allow to dry out. Then in late autumn giveit a good soak and bring the plant into the warm and it should hopefullystart all over again.Poinsettias (Euphorbia Pulcherima) are

available in many colours and modern treatmentskeep plants compact and bushy. They like bright, indirect sunlight and prefer humid conditions soyou may want to mist your plant if your home isvery dry due to heating. Let the compost dry outbetween watering, it should be dry to the touch, never wet. Poinsettias are sensitive to extremetemperatures so don’t place your plant next to a heater or near adraughty window or doorway. Avoid high temperatures, 55 – 60°F maxwill provide perfect conditions for your poinsettia.Look after your Christmas plants well and they will bring you much

enjoyment over the Christmas period and hopefully into 2016!
