Social ctivism of the Young People
Summary
This paper represents the results of the research done on sample of young people in Bosnia
and Herzegovina, ten years after the war. The researchers were interested to find out what values young people accept today, what values they identify themselves with, as well as what are the ideas
that lead them through life. When talking about the relationship of young people towards personal
status and social engagement, visible is a relatively positive relationship towards self engagement, but
not towards social engagement. Because, a good part of young people shows towards social
engagement a serious reserve and doubt that through activity anything important can be changed in
society. Therefore, passiveness is visibly present in the consciousness of young people and in their
value orientations. It is interesting that this general fact is not much dependent on value priorities of
young people or on socio-demographic characteristics of respondents.
Key Words: Young People, Social Engagement, Values,The Value of General Activism, the Value of Social Activism.
